After the Boston Red Sox took both games against the Atlanta Braves in Hotlanta, the two teams moved north to the frigid temperatures of the Back Bay for another two games. And even with that chill in the air, the Red Sox remained hot with the 2004 World Series Championship team in the house.
John Lackey struck out nine over 6.1 innings while offense scored single runs in four different innings to lead the local nine to a 4-0 win over the Braves. It’s the third straight win for the Red Sox after losing 10 in a row.
Xander Bogaerts had three hits to lead the Red Sox. A.J. Pierzynski, Jonny Gomes and Jackie Bradley, Jr. each had two hits and an RBI. The first run for the Red Sox came in the 2nd when Daniel Nava grounded into a double play.
This was the first time the Red Sox had beaten Braves starter Gavin Floyd. He had been 7-0 in his career against them and 3-0 at the Fens.
