Video: Nate Marquardt KO’s Tyron Woodley To Win Strikeforce Welterweight Title

After a one and a half year layoff from the cage, Nate Marquardt made his Strikeforce debut a very successful one at Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon on Saturday night.

Marquardt knocked out Tyron Woodley at 1:39 of the fourth round to become the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion. The belt was vacant coming into the bout because Nick Diaz left for the UFC last year.

Video: Brock Lesnar Retires From The UFC

It’s been a tough year and a half for Brock Lesnar. Two battles with diverticulitis followed by surgery in May to remove a part of his colon.

And now after losing to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, Lesnar has decided to call it quits and retire from the UFC.

Video: Alistair Overeem Beats Brock Lesnar by TKO at UFC 141

Alistair Overeem was making his UFC debut, Brock Lesnar was returning to The Octagon for the first time in 14 months after battling through an illness. All that was on the line at UFC 141 in the main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV was a shot at the title in a future bout against Junior dos Santos.

Using some vicious knees and kicks to the body, Overeem beat Lesnar by TKO (strikes) at 2:26 of the first round to set up the matchup with Dos Santos.

Video: Dan Henderson Beats Shogun Rua By Unanimous Decision at UFC 139

In the main event at UFC 139 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA on Saturday night, we may have witnessed what was the greatest fight ever in the UFC between Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

The pair battled for five rounds but in the end, it was Henderson who came out on top by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) over Shogun.

The pair were awarded $70,000 bonuses by UFC president Dana White for fight of the night honors.
