O.J. Simpson sits beside his attorney Yale Galanter during Simpson's trial at the Clark County Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas. - FOX News screenshotO.J. Simpson has been sentenced to a minimum of 15 years for his role in a September 2007 incident that took place in a Las Vegas hotel room. The sentence was handed down by judge Jackie Glass after listening to an hour or so of pre-sentencing talk.

Simpson will be eligible for parole in 9 years. He could wind up spending a total of 33 years in jail. His co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, received the same sentence from Glass but will be eligible for parole in 7½ years.

Simpson did express remorse when given the opportunity to address the court.

“I stand before you today sorry, I am apologetic to the people of Nevada. … When I came here, I came here for a wedding. I didn’t come to reclaim property.”

“In no way did I mean to hurt anybody, to steal anything from anyone. I didn’t want anybody else’s stuff. I just wanted my own. I realize that I was stupid. I am sorry. I didn’t know that I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was retrieving property from friends. I’m sorry, I’m sorry for all of it.”
