Here is a great audio clip from a press conference that Colorado Buffaloes head football coach, Dan Hawkins, took part in. The rant is in reference to a letter from a parent complaining about time off and his players who think he is too tough on them in regards to his training practices.

That could be one of the funniest things I have ever heard at press conference. In one aspect, I agree with the parents. A lot of these athletes are basically giving their lives to the football program. But then again, the school is paying them with a scholarship to go to school. The interesting point to me that he brings up is this:
“That’s a month that’s probably more vacation then you [reporters] get. And we’re a little bummed out that we don’t get three weeks?”
Honestly, it is probably more vacation than most anybody gets unless you are retired or super rich.
Hawkins took over the Colorado program after Gary Barnett resigned among the scandals concerning rape allegations and recruiting practices. Hawkins was 53-10 at Boise State before taking over Colorado. The Buffs were 2-10 last season. Maybe UCONN should schedule these guys too. Might be another team, they can beat.
Note: I wasn’t fully caught up on the earlier posts of Deadspin today and just noticed that they ran it over there too. Oh well. I can’t always be first.
