To start the story, I need to steal a line from the Beatles, “I get by with a little help from my friends”. Help was exactly what Josh Beckett needed to get his 18th victory of the season. He left the game after 7 innings with the score tied at 2 but was still eligible for the win if his “friends” could score a run in the top of the 8th. They came through for him and got him the eventual winning run. His pitching “friends” Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon came in and finished it off for him. The Sox now are back at the Fens for a 6-game homestand in which the Devil Rays are here for 3 and then the Yanks come in for their final regular season showdown of 2007. But before Curt Schilling picks up the ball before the game today, let’s take a look at the happenings and headlines from yesterday’s game from the Baltimore and Boston media.
