Twitter can be a great place to get breaking news. It can also be a place where you can get duped by someone pretending someone else.
Case in point, this afternoon what was thought to be a confirmed account of Boston Red Sox SS Mike Aviles tweeted that he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.
I say what was thought to be a confirmed account because earlier in the week, the @redsox account had been tweeting that it was Aviles. It’s since been deleted.
But thanks to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com via Twitter of course, we now know that this was a fake account and that Aviles doesn’t have a Twitter account.
