PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the fifth week of the college football season.

americanAMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chris Moore • Jr. • WR • Cincinnati • Bastrop, La.

Moore set an NCAA single-game record by averaging 73.7 yards per reception in Cincinnati’s 50-28 loss to No. 20/21 Ohio State. He had three receptions for 221 yards and scored touchdowns on all three of his catches. His 60-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter staked Cincinnati to a 7-0 lead, and he added touchdown catches of 83 and 78 yards to bring the Bearcats within five in the third quarter.  Moore leads the American Athletic Conference with five touchdown receptions and is averaging 42.7 yards per catch for the season.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Praise Martin-Oguike • Jr. • DE • Temple • Woodbridge, N.J.

Martin-Oguike was the anchor of a Temple defense that scored 16 points to help the Owls to a 36-10 win at UConn in their American Athletic Conference opener. He finished the game with six tackles, with three solo stops, to go with a sack, a forced fumble and an 11-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Temple’s defense forced three turnovers, helping the Owls rank second nationally in turnover margin (+2.50 per game).

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Austin Jones • Fr. • K • Temple • Orlando, Fla.

Jones scored 10 points to help Temple to a 36-10 win at UConn in the Owls’ American Athletic Conference opener. He hit field goals on back-to-back drives in the fourth quarter, connecting from 47 and 34 yards, and was 4-for-4 on PATs. Jones ranks fourth among American Athletic Conference players in scoring, averaging 8.2 points per game, after the Owls made a total of three field goals in the entire 2013 season.

Had two interceptions, a pass breakup and three tackles in a 24-3 loss at No. 10/11 Mississippi. Tied for the conference lead with three interceptions.

Completed 20 of 29 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing touchdown in a 36-10 win at UConn.

Had a 93-yard interception return for a touchdown and added a pass breakup in a 36-10 win at UConn. Tied for the conference lead with three interceptions.
