Take away the elements and Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball can be downright nasty. The Minnesota Twins are probably wishing they played outside after facing Wakefield on Friday night.
Wake went seven strong innings and Big Papi hit a bomb into the upper deck to lead the Sox past Sooze’s Twins by the final score of 2-0. In his seven innings, Wake allowed 3 hits and walks and struck out 2 Twinkies. He didn’t allow a runner to get past second base. His teammates haven’t been much help as far as run support in his starts but the two runs were enough to get the job done.
The Sox finally got on the board in the 6th when Big Papi hit a 423 foot homerun into the upper deck at the Metrodome off of Carlos Silva. Silva pitched very well too for the Twins.
The Sox tacked on another run in the top half of the 9th inning when J.D. Drew hit a triple and came home to score on a Coco Crisp single. Jonathan Papelbon came on in the 9th to finish the Twinkies off.
