The fans have spoken and they have chosen Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis as the American League representative of the 2008 Sharp presents Hank Aaron Award. Chicago Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez was the winner in the National League.

The Hank Aaron Award is recognizes the most outstanding offensive players in the American League and National League. The award was created in 1999 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aaron breaking Babe Ruth’s home run record of 714.

Youk set career highs with a .312 batting average which was good for 6th in the AL, 168 hits, 43 doubles, and Red Sox-high totals of 29 home runs and 115 RBIs, good for 4th in the AL.

Manny Ramirez (2004) and David Ortiz (2005) are the only other members of the Red Sox to win the Hank Aaron Award.
