First things first.

As I did last year, I didn’t vote the USC Trojans into my poll because they were ineligible for postseason play. Despite the fact Ohio State is undefeated, I am following the same idea as I did last year.

I moved up Florida one place and dropped Notre Dame one spot because the Gators played and beat a top 10 team in South Carolina while the Irish struggled with BYU.

I also decided to not drop West Virginia from my top 25 but another loss drops them out. Especially another bad loss like the whopping they got from Kansas State. Texas A&M also didn’t drop that far because they lost to a top 10 team in LSU.

2012 NCAA Football Rankings – Week 9 (Oct. 21)

AP & USA Today Coaches Polls

The NCAA rankings are out for the week and after their blowout win last night, the Alabama Crimson Tide remain as the top team in the land. Unlike last week though, this time around it’s not unanimous as the Florida Gators picked up one first place vote in the AP Poll.

The Crimson Tide are followed by the Oregon Ducks, Gators, Kansas State Wildcats and Notre Dame Fighting Irish in both polls.

With the Cincinnati Bearcats being upset by Toledo on Saturday night, the Big East has just two teams in both polls. They are the Louisville Cardinals (16/14) and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (18/15).

The Bearcats are the only Big East team among the others receiving votes.

I was most impressed with Oregon State this week, hence their big jump in my ballot. They were able to win and win big without their starting quarterback.

West Virginia took the biggest tumble in my ballot as they were spanked on the road by Texas Tech who coincidentally by virtue of the win, they move into my top 25.

Because South Carolina and LSU were both in my top 10, I didn’t feel the Gamecocks should fall out of the top 10 since it was a close loss in Death Valley.
