Notes: After getting some flack last week about not including Rutgers in my ballot, they are in this week after an impressive win in Arkansas. Sure the Razorbacks are 1-3 but for the Scarlet Knights to go there and win is huge either way.

I’ve also been impressed with Oregon State who has pulled off upsets in its first two games.

I probably should have moved Notre Dame up in the rankings more but I simply can’t and it’s because I’m biased. There’s two things I hate in this world. It’s Notre Dame (all sports) and Duke basketball.

2012 NCAA Football Rankings – Week 5 (Sept. 23)

AP & USA Today Coaches Polls

The NCAA football rankings are out and the Alabama Crimson Tide remain the No. 1 team in the land after a rather convincing win over my brother’s alma mater Florida Atlantic.

The Oregon Ducks leapfrogged the LSU Tigers to be No. 2 with LSU going to No. 3 in both polls and are followed by the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs.

For the first time in what seems like years, the Big East has two teams ranked in the top 25 of both polls. The Louisville Cardinals are No. 19/17 while the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are No. 23/25.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are the only team from the Big East among the others receiving votes in both polls.

Notes:

Stanford made the biggest jump in my poll and well deservedly so after their upset of the USC Trojans. The Trojans along with the Michigan State Spartans were the biggest drops in the poll.

Notre Dame’s win over the Spartans made them the second biggest jump in my ballot even I though dislike the Irish with all my heart.

Definitely been impressed with the Florida Gators play the last two weeks with two big second halfs to pull out wins.

If Louisiana-Monroe had beaten Auburn they would have been in my top 25 for sure. That being said, the bottom of the poll from 22-25 is a crap shoot.

As many of you know, I am one of the voters in the BlogPoll Top 25. Each week, bloggers across the country representing the various FBS schools get together and put together their own top 25’s.

Here at SOX & Dawgs, we are representing the UConn Huskies.

First things first. Since Ohio State is not eligible for a bowl game this year, I’ve decided to remove them from my ballot. I didn’t vote at all for USC over the past years so I believe it’s only fair.

I did think about dropping Arkansas completely out of the poll but then figured they deserved the drop I gave them. I hate Notre Dame and almost kept them out of the poll but to be fair I kept them in.

I added in three teams this week. UCLA, BYU and Arizona. I also considered Tennessee and will keep my eye on them next week if someone falls out.
