Video: Ross Doubles Red Sox Past White Sox

Relief pitcher Koji Uehara #19 (L) and catcher David Ross #3 of the Boston Red Sox celebrate their win over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on April 17, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois.

While the season is still young, the Boston Red Sox have only won one series so far in 2014. After last night’s win, you can make that two.

David Ross‘ RBI double in the 9th inning scored Mike Napoli to put the Red Sox ahead for good in a 3-1 win over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Jonathan Herrera added the final run on a bases loaded safety squeeze bunt. Xander Bogaerts got the visiting nine on the board with a solo home run in the 6th inning breaking up the no-hitter of Chris Sale.

Jon Lester was outstanding on the mound as he went eight innings, allowing just the one run on seven hits while striking out nine. Koji Uehara returned from his shoulder issues to pick up his third save of the season.

Video: JBJ Doubles Red Sox To 6-4 Win Over White Sox

Extra innings baseball in cold weather is no fun. Unless you win of course.

Jackie Bradley Jr. #25 of the Boston Red Sox gets the game-winning hit, a two run double in the 14th inning, against the Chicago Whtie Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on April 16, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois. The Boston Red Sox had two chances to do just that against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Unfortunately Edward Mujica blew his first save (where art thou Koji) in the 11th after his team had given him the load.

But lucky enough for Mujica and the Red Sox, the rookie, Jackie Bradley Jr, delivered a clutch two-run double in the 14th inning to give the Red Sox a 6-4 win over South Siders.

Clay Buchholz started this one for the Red Sox and allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings of work. Chris Capuano picked up the win after 2.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball with Burke Badenhop earning the save.

Dustin Pedroia had two hits in his return to the lineup. Xander Bogaerts and Jonny Gomes each had a hit and a RBI. Grady Sizemore and A.J. Pierzynski added the other RBIs on sacrifice flies.

Video: Bogaert’s Throwing Error Gives White Sox 2-1 Win

Marcus Semien (center) of the Chicago White Sox celebrates with his teammates after driving in the game winning run during the ninth inning against the Boston Red Sox on April 15, 2014 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois.

The current road trip the Boston Red Sox are on right now is turning into a nightmare after another loss, this time to the Chicago White Sox.

Xander Bogaert’s throwing error in the bottom of the 9th allowed Alexei Ramirez to score the winning run in a 2-1 win for the South Siders.

Jake Peavy got the start against his former club and was solid over six innings allowing a run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight on a 40 degree night in the Windy City. The run he allowed came on a home run off the bat of his good friend, Adam Dunn.

The Red Sox run came on a Daniel Nava home run in the 4th inning off of White Sox starter Erik Johnson. Mike Napoli and Jonathan Herrera had the other hits for the visiting nine.

Video: Overturned Call The Difference in Yankees 3-2 Win Over Red Sox

Boston Herald, NY Post and NY Daily News sports covers for Monday, April 14, 2014

Instant replay has seen its share of good and bad over the past few weeks of the 2014 season.

The Boston Red Sox saw it go against them on Saturday earning an apology from MLB. And on Sunday night, an overturned call cost them their manager and the game.

Francisco Cervelli‘s fielder’s choice RBI in the 4th inning turned out to be the difference as the New York Yankees beat the Red Sox 3-2.

Cervelli had initially been called out on a bang-bang play at first base but Joe Girardi challenged the call. After replay, the call was overturned allowing the run to be scored.

Jonathan Herrera, who was filling in for an injured Dustin Pedroia, knocked in the first run for the Red Sox with a single. Mike Napoli had other RBI with a solo home run. Grady Sizemore along with Napoli had two hits each to lead the Red Sox.

Felix Doubront started this one and while not at his best still managed to pitch into the 7th inning and keep his team in the game.

NY Daily News, NY Post and Newsday sports covers for Sunday, April 13, 2014

That’s exactly what happened to the Boston Red Sox as the New York Yankees hit five home runs in their 7-4 win on Saturday afternoon.

Brian McCann hit two home runs. Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano and Kelly Johnson had the others for the victors. Four of those home runs came off of Red Sox starter John Lackey who took his first loss of the season.

Video: Sizemore Blasts Red Sox To 4-2 Win Over Yankees

Boston Herald, NY Daily News & NY Post sports covers for Saturday, April 12, 2014

With one swing of Grady Sizemore‘s bat on Friday night, the momentum swung the way of the Boston Red Sox.

Sizemore’s three-run blast off of old friend CC Sabathia capped off a four-run 6th inning as the Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 4-2 at Yankee Stadium on Friday night.

Jonny Gomes started off the scoring in the 6th with a solo home run. Both Gomes and Sizemore finished with two hits on the night.

Video: Papi’s Three-Run Blast The Difference In 4-2 Win Over Rangers

David Ortiz #34 of the Boston Red Sox watches the ball after hitting a three-run home run in the 8th inning against the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park on April 9, 2014 in Boston, Massachusetts.

To say the Boston Red Sox were scuffling at home would be a slight understatement. But lest we forget it’s April and not September. A win on Wednesday would be a nice way to kick off a road trip that starts in the Bronx on Thursday night.

David Ortiz would make sure though that the Red Sox left with a smile on their face and W in their pocket.

A review of his three-run home run around Pesky Pole was upheld and that was the difference in the 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday at Fenway Park.

Big Papi finished with two of the Red Sox’s four hits on the afternoon. Dustin Pedroia and pinch-hitter A.J. Pierzynski had the others.

Jake Peavy started this one and picked up a no decision after allowing a run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight in 6.2 innings. Despite allowing a run in the top of the 8th, Andrew Miller picked up his first win of the season and Koji Uehara earned his second save of 2014.

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Felix Doubront reacts on the mound after giving up runs to the Texas Rangers in the third inning of a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston, Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

Felix Doubront breezed through the first two innings for the Boston Red Sox against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

Unfortunately, he didn’t make it out of the 3rd inning as the Rangers rocked him for five runs on their way to a 10-7 win over the Red Sox.

Doubront ended up going 2.1 innings allowing six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two. Burke Badenhop didn’t fare any better as he gave up four runs on five hits and a walk in relief of Doubront.
