Extra innings baseball in cold weather is no fun. Unless you win of course.
The Boston Red Sox had two chances to do just that against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Unfortunately Edward Mujica blew his first save (where art thou Koji) in the 11th after his team had given him the load.
But lucky enough for Mujica and the Red Sox, the rookie, Jackie Bradley Jr, delivered a clutch two-run double in the 14th inning to give the Red Sox a 6-4 win over South Siders.
Clay Buchholz started this one for the Red Sox and allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings of work. Chris Capuano picked up the win after 2.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball with Burke Badenhop earning the save.
Dustin Pedroia had two hits in his return to the lineup. Xander Bogaerts and Jonny Gomes each had a hit and a RBI. Grady Sizemore and A.J. Pierzynski added the other RBIs on sacrifice flies.
