Video: Carl Crawford Out With Testicular Contusion

While the injury suffered by Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Carl Crawford isn’t funny at all, I did get quite a chuckle when going through my RSS feeds from Rotoworld.

Video: Who The Heck Is Jose Ortiz?

ESPN analyst Bobby Valentine has been around the game of baseball for a long time so you would think he knows the player’s names. After all, isn’t it his job to know them especially if he’s going to announce them.

Well when it came time for him to make his choice during the 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby last night, Valentine went with Jose Ortiz. Of course Chris Berman and Joe Morgan didn’t correct him, they just let him keep going.

At least Bobby V. picked a winner last night as his pick Jose Ortiz otherwise known as Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz won the Home Run  Derby with 11 home runs in the finals over former Red Sox farmhand and current Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez.

Here’s the video of Valentine calling him Jose Ortiz for your enjoyment:

At least after watching this, people will understand why we may continue to call Big Papi “Jose Ortiz”.

Video: Terry Francona Ejects Umpire After His Ejection

Boston Red Sox skipper Terry Francona was a little hot under the collar with home plate umpire Jeff Kellogg after Kellogg had ejected center fielder Mike Cameron from the game. Cameron had some words for Kellogg as he was leaving and eventually was tossed while in the dugout.

Francona came out to protect Cameron and whatever Kellogg said to Tito set him off as he was ejected from the game. Within a second of being ejected, Tito ejected Kellogg from the game.

Video: Ronan Tynan Sings “God Bless America” at Fenway Park

For many years, former Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan could be heard singing “God Bless America” at New York Yankees games. But he was accused of making anti-Semitic remarks and left New York.

He ended up relocating to Boston and during a St. Patty’s Day event in Beantown, Tynan sang “God Bless America”.

Well during the Boston Red Sox’s 6-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on July 4th, Tynan made his first Fenway Park appearance to sing the song and received a rousing ovation from the Fenway faithful when he was done.

Video: J.D. Drew Rubs Adrian Beltre’s Head And Lives To Tell About It

All season long whenever Boston Red Sox third baseman Adrian Beltre hits a home run, catcher Victor Martinez tries to rub Beltre’s head. Of course Beltre’s not a fan of this and always reacts by throwing punches back at VMart.

But with VMart in the clubhouse having his injured thumb examined, Beltre probably thought he was safe from the head rubs after a his homer in the 9th inning of yesterday’s 5-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. But that wasn’t the case as J.D. Drew swooped in with a little rub of the head on Beltre who actually didn’t really react to it. Marco Scutaro also got in a rub for haha’s as well.

Video: B.J. Upton, Evan Longoria Scuffle In Rays Dugout

The Tampa Bay Rays are coming into Boston for a two-game set with the Red Sox on Tuesday having lost seven of their last ten games. During that stretch, the Rays have fallen from first place to third place, a game behind the Red Sox and 2½ games behind the New York Yankees.

And to make matters worse, they had a little scuffle in the dugout on Sunday when Evan Longoria confronted B.J. Upton about his lack of hustle on a defensive play. And to make matters worse, Upton was picked off first base the next inning.

Here’s the video of the incident:

I’m glad Longoria said something to Upton because something needed to be said. You’re in the big leagues, there’s no need for the lack of hustle.
