Update for Tuesday, May 11th

There will be no morning posts this morning as I’m heading up to Boston for the Josh Beckett and Jacoby Ellsbury wine tasting thing at the House of Blues. I’ll have a video camera with me so I’ll be taking pictures and hopefully some video to post here when I get to the hotel where I’ll be staying overnight to attend Wednesday’s day game.

I will do my best to get those posts up later in the day with the exception of the Boston Red Sox News & Notes post. So if you want to read more about last night’s Red Sox win, be sure to check the links below.

For more slices of Boston Red Sox goodness, head over to the Boston GlobeBoston HeraldESPN BostonNESNProvidence Journal and WEEI websites.

And if you must read the enemy papers, head over to The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and Toronto Sun websites.

Happy Mother’s Day 2010

I just want to wish my Mom, Grandmother, my best friend and all the mothers out there, a very Happy Mother’s Day. It’s your day, sit back and relax and let the rest of your family cater to you.

Happy Mother's Day

New Writer At SOX & Dawgs

Have you ever been so busy that you thought you did something and but never did? Well that’s exactly what’s happened for me.

Last week, we added a new writer, Michele, and I had told her I wanted to do an introductory post. So Michele, please accept my apologies on forgetting to do this much sooner.

Michele joined us last week and has already written two posts. Her first post, which came on April 28th, is entitled “A Win Is a Win?“. Her second post came yesterday which is entitled “Hope Springs Eternal“.

Please check them out, leave your thoughts pr just say hi to Michele. If you’re on Twitter, you can follow her @spellingqueen81 there.

On behalf of Amanda, Steve and myself, welcome to the family Michele.

Quick Update For 4/24

Just to let ya’ll know, there won’t be a Boston Red Sox roundup this morning. I’m also not sure of when I’ll get back today but I’ll do my best to update things once I return home.

My apologies.

Welcome

Welcome to SOX & Dawgs!! As you’ve noticed we’ve moved and are now a part of the Bloguin Network.

I’m stoked to be a part of a great blog network and am looking forward to the future here.

If you don’t know what SOX & Dawgs is about, we are mainly a Boston Red Sox and UConn Huskies site. We also dabble in the New England Patriots as well as other sports news and occasionally some news of the weird.

We’ve been around since 2005 but didn’t really get into it until 2007. Over the existence of the site, I’ve added two writers, Steve and Amanda, who stop in from time to time. Steve used to write for the site full-time until work commitments got in the way. He did/does the Patriots stuff so you’ll still see him around.

With the Red Sox and UConn, I try to do what amounts to a link dump once or twice a day plus giving my thoughts where possible. We also do game recaps for the UConn Huskies women’s basketball, men’s basketball and football teams.

With the Red Sox, I have a little series that I call Red Sox late morning, afternoon, evening delight. Those posts usually contain the starting lineups for the game that day as well as some stats about the pitchers as well as the batter/pitcher matchups. I’ll also add some commentary in as well.

As you peruse the site right now, we are still under construction.

The transition over from WordPress went as smooth as it could but unfortunately, the posts didn’t format correctly. Over the coming weeks, I will be making sure that they look normal again.

Also with any of my self hosted video files, I will be converting them over to work here as well. A little patience goes a long way.

You’ll notice things look a little different. All schedules for the Red Sox and UConn can now be found at the top of the page.

I do apologize for not really posting the past few days.

Besides helping my father rip carpet out of a flooded basement, I’ve been busy with the transition over here. Like I said there’s still work to do but we’re on our way to getting back to normal.

Many thanks to Ben, Derek and Dave on allowing me to become a part of the Bloguin Network and also to their hard work in helping get my site ready for business.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for us, feel free to use the contact form at the top.

Site Announcement

As you may recall a few weeks ago, I said I had something exciting going on here at SOX & Dawgs.

I feel now is the time to tell everyone. In the coming days, we will be joining the Bloguin network of blogs. It’s something that I had thought about a while back when they approached me to join.

After taking some time (six months) to decide what I wanted to do, I finally decided to accept their offer.

Things will not change with the way that things are done when I move over there. Ben, Derek and Dave, who run the network, are a great bunch of guys and basically told me to just keep doing my thing.

We’ll be joining fellow Red Sox blogs, Fenway West and the Bottom Line over at Bloguin and we’ll be the only blog that writes about the UConn Huskies.

I’m not a big fan of change but I’m really excited for this. Hopefully, we’ll get some new readers along the way and continue to have the ones who come to the site on a daily basis.

The first few days might be a little hectic as I try to work out the kinks. Derek and Dave have been doing most of the work getting my site ready to launch and I’ve been doing some of the smaller things to help out in the transition.

Unfortunately, the previous comments on here won’t get transferred over but once I get settled in, I will make this wordpress site an archive site. This way, the comments will be saved. I wish this wasn’t the case but it is what is.

The video posts that I host myself will also take me sometime to convert over as well. But I will work diligently to get things going over there smoothly.

As I said before, I’m excited to be heading over there. Thanks to Derek,  Dave and Ben for the invitation to join a great network of blogs.

Site News

Over the next week or so, you may see a reduction in the number of posts as I have some personal business to attend to. This business will keep me away from a computer for the better part of the day.

I will do my best when I am home to provide you with as many posts as I can.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your consideration.

Odds Released for the King of All Beauty Pageants

This Wednesday marks an epic day in radio listening and online wagering. The ‘King of all Media’ Howard Stern will be hosting a beauty contest between numerous alleged Tiger Woods’ mistresses. Supposedly he needs four entrants to have a pageant and odds makers at Sportsbook.com believe that they’ve nailed the FINAL FOUR ahead of NCAA Selection Sunday.
