Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be taking Wednesday off from the site to take care of some personal business. We’ll be back in action either Wednesday night or back in full swing on Thursday. I apologize for the inconvenience. And for the Red Sox fans, the game against the Braves this afternoon at 1:05 p.m. is on ESPN.

New Commenting System in Effect
Like a fine wine, Bloguin is getting better with age. The fine folks behind Bloguin have been putting together some great changes lately.
We’ve got the faster loading template and now we have a new commenting system here.
With that being said, there are a few things that need to be done. First, you’ll need to register your screenname over at livefyre.com. You can do this one of three ways:
- register with your email address or
- sign in with facebook or
- sign in with your Twitter username
For those of you who have registered to comment here on the site, in due time your Bloguin username and password will be migrated over.
And if you’re wondering if any of your comments you made will still be here, no need to worry about that either. The comments will be migrated over to the new commenting system as well.
I’m excited for the new commenting system as it will make the game day threads all the much better because it will update itself automatically.
One more thing that’s new is that when you now visit the site on your smartphone (Blackberry, iPhone, Android phone), you will now be able to view a mobile version of SOX & Dawgs. The one kink I’ve noticed with it is that any videos that I post from NESN aren’t working. I’m working on a workaround for that so hopefully in the future, it won’t be a problem.
But I can tell you it’s a lot nicer than having to readjust the browser size on your mobile phone to view the site. We do get a good amount of smartphone visitors each day so I’m glad they’ll get a better experience here at SOX & Dawgs.
My Apologies
I just wanted to provide a quick apology for not posting anything earlier in the day. Friday night was a crazy night as my neighbor knocked on my door about 10:30 or so to let me know that his walls were starting to crack from the weight of the ice and snow on the roof.
Once the fire department got here, they determined that it was probably a good idea to get out. Since it’s a condo and I’m next door to him, I took out some stuff as well. After the building inspector did a complete inspection, it was decided that we would be evacuated for at least the night maybe even longer.
So by the time was all said and done, it was about 12:45 a.m and by the time i got to my parents lakehouse, it was about 1:45 in the morning. By the time I went to bed it was 3:30 and I got woken up at 7:30 when my parents decided they needed to remove the snow from the roof out there.
I woke up did a few things and went back to sleep for the afternoon until I heard that I could come back home. So as much as I wanted to do stuff here on the site, it just didn’t happen. So I do apologize for that.
Things are safe here as my neighbors broken trusses have been fixed along with the one over the condo here. Plus the management company removed all of the ice and snow from the roof.
Just a crazy night and then day today.
Here’s the recap of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team’s win over the DePaul Blue Demons this afternoon. And here’s the recap of the UConn men’s basketball team’s come from behind win over the Seton Hall Pirates.
We’ll be back in full swing tomorrow with the normal routine plus I’ll have a few posts from the CT Whale, some quick Red Sox news and some video from UFC 126.
Happy New Year 2011

Mini-Vacation
We’re off for the weekend here at SOX & Dawgs so expect the posting to be light at best. I can promise you though that the GameDay Open Threads will be up for your enjoyment. We’ll be back at some point on late Sunday and will resume our normal daily routine on our return.
Enjoy your weekend folks!
Site News
We should be able to get going today with the posts now as Bloguin made a final switch to a new better and faster server during the night last night.{jcomments off}
Vacation Was Nice….
But we’ve missed on some news over the past few days including today’s 2010 MLB All-Star teams, Kevin Youkilis in the final vote, the Red Sox taking two-of-three from the Baltimore Orioles and so on and so forth.
So bear with me as I do a little catchup on the site here.
And for the record, the next vacation is scheduled for July 23-25.

We Are Back
I owe the readers of the site a big apology. Normally when I’m going to take off time from the site, I’ll let you know ahead of time. This time I didn’t.
I started out with no plans but something last minute came up and I was unable to get anything written to let everyone know. For that I apologize.
I’ve got lot to catch up on with the Red Sox and the UConn Huskies especially giving my thought on the allegations brought against the men’s basketball team. I will do my best to get caught up here and get us back on track.
Thank you very much for your support of the blog and I look forward to putting out the best content I can on a daily basis.

We’re Back
We’re back after a brief hiatus due to a computer issue. With new power cord in hand, we can get back to doing the site now.
We missed a lot over the past two days.
On Monday night, we missed the come-from-behind win loss by the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees. Last night, we missed the come-from-behind win over the Yankees. We missed Mike Lowell basically asking for his release from the Red Sox and a little tift between Daisuke Matsuzaka and Victor Martinez.
On the UConn side of things, all we really missed was the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team visiting President Barack Obama for the second straight year.
No Posts
As I write from my iPod Touch, I just want to say there will be no posts for the coming days as I’m taking an unscheduled break from the site due to computer issues. Once the computer is back and working, we’ll be back too. sorry for any inconvenience.
