6 Trends Changing the Sports Industry

The sports industry is no stranger to the changes brought about by cultural changes and technological innovation. And since the year is about to close, we will usher in another decade of sports with new trends that are redefining the experience for players, investors, and fans. In this article, we explore in detail the trends that were big in 2019 and what we can expect in the years to come.

Augmented and virtual reality application in sports

During the last several years, AR and VR were the most exciting innovation set to revolutionize sports. Although the excitement has fizzled somewhat, there is still significant interest in finding new applications of these technologies in the world of sports. Perhaps what is most notable here is how AR and VR bring a new way for fans to experience and enjoy sports. As entertainment becomes more interactive, fans are also more in touch with sports celebrities they admire and respect.

Sports analytics and data

Information is powerful and is changing how fans enjoy sports. Entertainment plays a significant role in keeping fans engaged. As such, the availability of platforms that provide access to data and analytics give fans what they need to choose which team or player to root for. Even sites that host games like booty bingo are benefiting from analytics and reporting. These tools can be a source of confidence for players and fans alike.

Athletes as influencers and content creators

Nowadays, sports fans no longer rely on the news to get updates about an ongoing tournament or a favorite player. Athletes are becoming more transparent about their daily activities through social media. Some even go to the extent of contributing stories to sports websites.

Social media presence makes these players relatable. Fans can also engage through comments and connect with fellow fans. In turn, players can use these channels to make a difference or encourage support for worthwhile causes such as charities.

eSports is gaining the recognition it deserves

Some sports purists would argue that eSports is not real sports. But the growing audience and support from professional leagues around the world are slowly cementing its reputation. In the years to come, more sports organizations around the globe can include eSports in events. And as recognition moves towards the positive side, eSports can be part of the Olympics in 2024.

A focus on the mental health of athletes

Mental health has always been brushed under the rug when it comes to professional sports. But as more online platforms become available for athletes to share their stories, there is now a renewed interest in mental health. It is empowering for many people to see these famous personalities come out with their struggles. As such, they become advocates to encourage mental health awareness and treatment. Not only does it remove the stigma on the disease, but allows those who suffer from the same condition to not be ashamed and seek to better themselves.

Personalized fan engagement

Collecting and storing data from the online behaviour of fans allow sports industry leaders and organizations to experiment with new ways to achieve engagement. Marketing becomes highly targeted, and fans feel more valued through the many ways they get to interact with their favorite teams and players.

Ravens-Steelers matchup has different feel, but same passion

One of the most heated rivalries in the NFL exists in the AFC North, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. Players on both teams have treated fans to plenty of trash talk, bone-jarring hits and entertaining moments on the field, with the fans bringing just as much passion as well — before, during and after games.

And even though Sunday’s Week 17 showdown sees the Ravens in a position where they have absolutely nothing to play for, don’t expect them to just lay down and die. The Ravens will be sitting virtually all their skill-position stars on offense, as well as MVP frontrunner quarterback Lamar Jackson, with offensive linemen Ronnie Stanley and Marshal Yanda out of action as well.

But the Ravens, while they’ve clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs, and have the comfort of knowing the road goes through Baltimore, have the ultimate opportunity on their hands. They’re in a position to end the Steelers’ season, without making the playoffs, and even though they’ll be playing their backups, don’t think for a minute that they won’t relish the opportunity to do so. Sports Betting Odds barely even have the Steelers as a favorite, as they’re laying only two points in Sunday’s game, according to Sports Betting Odds

That’s likely because the Steelers will be starting Devlin “Duck” Hodges under center on Sunday, and given how bad he played against the Jets, it figures that the Ravens defense could give him fits. Hodges looks to be better suited to be a duck-caller, rather than a signal-caller, as his indecisiveness, as well as turnovers, have doomed the offense when he’s under center. Hodges has been so bad that the Steelers could even play major first-round bust Paxton Lynch, who has ended up on the team’s roster, and could even see some action on Sunday, given that the Ravens have nothing to lose, and the Steelers have everything to game. A loss would see them having been eliminated from playoff contention in the second consecutive season, and would make head coach Mike Tomlin’s seat extremely hot heading into 2020. That’s no way to approach the offseason, and the Steelers will likely need their stout defense to lead the way on Sunday, forcing some negative plays and turnovers to help out the stagnant offense with some short fields, and maybe even a touchdown as well. Expect a low-scoring, grind-it-out battle between these two division rivals.

Patriots on track to earn playoff bye for 10th straight year

It’s a well-known fact that the Patriots have established a dynasty, with quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick having won six Super Bowls since the turn of the century.

The two have won so much that it’s hard to remember a season in which the Patriots didn’t win the AFC East. They, in fact, have won the division title the last 11 seasons. Not only that, if the Patriots beat the Dolphins in Week 17 on Sunday, they’ll have clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs, and will have a first-round bye for the last 10 years. This veteran team is one of the oldest in the NFL, and given all the injuries they’ve racked up this year, they could certainly use the extra rest. Not only that, the additional week of preparation would be huge for Belichick and his coaching staff, as they’re known for being among the best in creating gameplans to attack their opposition on both sides of the ball, which past results clearly show. That, and the extra rest for guys like wide receiver Julian Edelman, running back Sony Michel, and 42-year-old quarterback Tom Brady would certainly be welcomed.

And the Patriots do seem to be on track to do exactly that, as a matchup against the Dolphins in Gillette Stadium on Sunday figures to be fairly easy task, given what the team has accomplished over the past two decades. The Patriots are currently listed as 16.5-point favorites by sportsbooks, as far as the NFL Odds go, so don;t expect a letdown spot by Brady and Co., especially coming off one of their best performances of the season, a thrilling 24-17 win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins, however, will not just lay down and die, especially not with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. Miami beat New England in December last season, although that game was in South Beach, pulling off an incredible feat with a series of laterals at the end of the contest. The Patriots put slewfooted Rob Gronkowski in for Devin McCourty at safety, and paid for it, as the Dolphins seemingly did the impossible in scoring a walkoff touchdown, known as the Miami Miracle. And on Sunday, expect Fitzpatrick to have nothing to lose, so he’ll look to sling it all over the field. Unfortunately for them, interceptions are more likely than touchdowns, and the Patriots defense should be able to create enough negative plays to win — again.

How are online slots different from brick and mortar slot machines?

If you’re up with all the latest trends in the world of gaming, then it certainly dawned on you to try out online slots at least once in your life. Of course, the technology has allowed for so many of these slots to be created that they’re really hard to miss these days. So, what makes these slots different from the slots that you’re used to at your local brick and mortar casino? Well, we’re here to answer that question for you in this article.

1. Online slots have many different themes

When you go to a casino in real life and you check out the slots, they’re usually all same old, same old. There’s nothing new and exciting about these slot machines and they show you the same symbols every time on top of all the boring sound effects that you’ve probably heard a million times. Online slots, on the other hand, are completely different in this regard. There are many different thematic slots which all have different sound effects and graphics so that you can have a unique experience which is catered towards your taste. From sci-fi and adventure to fantasy, online slots have all the newest looks in the industry.

2. You can play online slots from the comfort of your home

It seems a bit trivial, right? But it just has to be said because it’s one of the main advantages of enjoying a good game of online slots. The best thing about being in your home when playing slots is that you can be in your pajamas or underwear and play as much as you want without anyone knowing. You can play online slots for a little bit and then enjoy some Free Sex Games in the next moment. There are no rules here except for the ones concerned with how the online game operates, everything else is up to you.

3. You can leave the online slots going automatically in the background

Online slots bring you the convenience of setting up strategies for automatic play. You can basically set when the slots should reset the betting price and when you should pull back with your winnings. The best part about this is that some online slots even have predetermined and built-in strategies that you can use. These are usually better than just spinning the slot blindly. And while you’re earning money in the background, in the meantime you can have fun with Porn Games.

These are only three reasons why many players are switching over to online slots or at least giving them a shot. If you’re interested in finding out more about these games, then you have plenty of online casino options that you can check out right now. Just go to any one of the most popular online casinos and start enjoying yourself right now. You’ll be surprised as to how much content there is to explore on these amazing platforms.

Bears, Packers divisional matchup sure to entertain

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are on track to meet for the 200th time, as these two division rivals will likely produce yet another entertaining game that will glue fans to their television sets.

Green Bay has seen a tremendous turnaround with new head coach Matt LaFleur calling the shots, and with a 10-3 record, they’re currently in first place in the NFC North. However, Chicago will likely be extremely motivated to play the role of spoiler and knock down their biggest rival, opening up the race just a bit more. Not only that, a victory would give the Bears their fourth straight win, and would also guarantee a .500 or better record — which would help quell the pressure on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and head coach Matt Nagy heading into next season.

As for the Packers, the pressure is squarely on former MVP Aaron Rodgers, as he simply just has not played up to his standards this season. He’s completed only 64.4 percent of his passes, and while having only two interceptions is great, throwing just 23 touchdowns through 13 games is well short of his average. For comparison, Lamar Jackson has thrown 33 through 14 contests thus far. It’s hard to identify exactly what has had Rodgers struggling — whether it’s learning a new offense, holding onto the ball too long or an inexperienced receiving corps simply not getting open — but whatever the reason, if the Packers are going to mount a deep playoff run, he’ll need to play better.

Still, the Packers are incredibly tough to defeat at home at Lambeau Field, and it wouldn’t be wise to bet against them at an online casino, if given the option. Green Bay is a five-point favorite in the game for a reason, and the team is 6-1 at Lambeau thus far this season. Chicago is playing extremely well, but it’s hard to fathom that the Packers will give up a game in the standings this late in the season, when they control their own destiny.

An introduction to play video poker online

Enjoy a game of video poker online from the comfort of your home, office, or on the go in some of the best online casinos.

It was back in 1970s, when video poker was first introduced in the United States. Almost similar to slot machines, video poker doesn’t require any interactions with either the dealer or the other players, while the card combinations are managed by machine generated random algorithms. Unlike slot machines, however, video poker is considered to be a game of skill, and can turn in a profit if played skilfully over a long period of time. At the beginning, video poker struggled for years to be accepted by the masses and used to be referred as the ‘Poker Slots’. The more people got familiar with the basic ranks of poker hands and places where you can play bingo online for money, and the game got more and more popular, with the majority of gaming destinations devoting a huge percentage of their electronic gaming spaces to video poker. The more experienced the players get, the demand for video poker tends to get stronger.

In the new millennium, with the advancement of internet and other technologies, the game is experiencing a new Renaissance with its demands spreading all over the world. Video poker now doesn’t always need a physical space, rather, it can be played anytime and from anywhere online, with a touch of your hands and in the comfort of your home. So, if you want to join in the online video poker craze, let’s find out the basics first.

What is online video poker?

Obviously, video poker online is a game that you can play online using a device like computer or smartphone and internet connections. Whereas, video poker is a game based on draw poker, where the players play on a computerized slot machine to try and make certain poker hand combinations. Each video poker game has its own deck, which changes constantly by a random number generator until the player hit deal or draw. Ideally, it should be played as a single-hand game, with each hand consisting of five cards. The rules are similar to draw poker, except you play against no other player, and thus, there is no guessing involved. In its simplest form, you deal, check the first five cards, and decide to draw or hold until your desired combination arrives. Based on the value of the cards and their combinations, the players earn a higher or lower sum.

While video poker is a version of online poker, it can be of different types. The most basic online video poker game is Jacks or Better. The other variants include Joker Wild, Deuces Wild, Triple Deuces, etc.

Is online video poker legal?

If you are 18 years of age or older, playing online video poker is legal in the United States and many other countries, including United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Australia, etc. However, you have to play it on a legitimate online casino platform.

MLB Post-Season News

The Reds

The Cincinnati Reds are finally preparing to “go for it,” with their young guys having developed, and the trade with the Dodgers adding veteran talent to round out the roster.

It’s been a few years of rebuilding, but the team is now looking to build around the talent it has, while adding a few key pieces in free agency to shore up their weaknesses.

And it’s pretty easy to identify the team’s No. 1 weakness — starting pitching, although that’s not slowing down fans at five dimes mobile site as they’re already jumping in on the excitement and action. Never too early to be a fan.

As such, the Reds are expected to sign at least one top-flight pitcher over the next few weeks, with Mets hurler Zack Wheeler near the top of their list, as he gets set to hit the free-agent market, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Rosenthal reported that the team is interested in Wheeler, which comes on the heels of the news about the team being in on Marcell Ozuna as well.

Wheeler had a rough 2019 campaign, posting a 11-8 record and 3.96 ERA for the Mets.

The Angels

The Angels have been quietly retooling their roster over the past few seasons, and now, with a new manager at the helm, the team is looking to enter “win-now” mode.

It makes sense timing-wise, as the Angels clearly don’t want to waste the rest of superstar slugger Mike Trout’s prime years. Trout, after all, is a five-tool player that can do it all, and team is wise to build around him. And given that he makes roughly $35 million per season, the Angels probably should focus more on winning now, while they still have Trout in peak form.

It looks like that’s exactly the strategy they’re looking to employ, as the latest rumors suggest the team is going to make a big move in free agency over the past few weeks. Even Trout himself hinted about it.

“I think every Angels fan or Angels player is just looking, waiting for that thing to pop up on their phone saying we’re acquiring somebody or signing somebody,” Trout recently said, during an appearance on MLB Network Radio (SiriusXM).

It’ll be interesting to see if the Angels look to bolster their pitching, offense, defense — or all three. Time will tell.

The Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers saw their team get eliminated from the postseason in brutal fashion — with closer Bill Hader, one of the best in the business, blowing a 3-1 lead with two outs in the eighth inning of the NL Wild Card game against the Nationals.

Not only that, the Brewers had to go on and watch the Nationals use that momentum to carry them to a World Series win, their first in franchise history.

As such, they’re in need of a bit of a makeover, especially since they have a few free agents that likely won’t be with the team next season, heading into the Winter Meetings next month. They did that by giving a first look at the team’s new uniforms — with 2018 MVP Christian Yelich wearing them — and they are awesome.

Sleek.

The Astros

The Houston Astros are under major investigation by Major League Baseball over allegations that they cheated during the 2017 season — mainly by stealing signs — and a recent video can serve as proof.

It’s been said by former Astros players that the team used video and other technology to steal signs, and MLB is currently looking into it. However, a number of video clips have already emerged which back up their claims.

First, a few different videos appear to show Astros players banging on a trash can in the dugout to signify if it’s either a fastball or offspeed pitch — some of them even resulting in home runs. [In case you missed it, you can watch it in full here.]

And now, a new video from Game 5 of the 2017 World Series shows Astros players walking by a table with video monitors and laptops on it. It’s clear the table was in use, as sunflower seeds were on it, as well as the floor.

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s Top 5 Finishes

Donald the ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is considered by many as the journeyman of the UFC, a pillar that holds up the sport. The American has paved the way for UFC fighters and has grown with the vastly popular UFC franchise, cementing his rightful place in the sport’s history books.

Cerrone has no intention of hanging up the gloves anytime soon, with a potential blockbuster bout with Connor McGregor on the cards early next year. The Denver born-brawler has made his stamp on the sport recording some epic takedowns over the years, but which five are your favourite Cowboy finishes?

Jabbed Edson Barboza to the Canvas

April 2014, Edson Barboza breezes into the Amway centre riding a three-fight win streak, with the intention of kicking his way to victory against challenger Cerrone, but the Cowboy had other plans.

Barboza was considered at the time to possess the best kicking in the UFC and was determined to use his strong attributes on the Cowboy that night — but Cerrone made it clear that he was in the driving seat — demonstrating why he is a veteran of the sport.

Minutes into the first round, Barboza tasted Cerrone’s leather and dropped to the canvas in one choreographed motion. Cerrone wasted no time and employed a textbook rear-naked chokehold on the Brazilian to send Barboza packing.

Jim Miller Goes to Sleep

Following Cerrone’s ferocious first-round finish against Barboza, The Cowboy was matched up against the iron-fisted Jim Miller. The fight came three months after his Barboza victory, but this quick turnaround hardly affected the Colorado native.

The fight was pinned for five rounds, but the finishing power these two warriors both possessed made it an unlikely contest to go the distance.

The first round featured a handful of action from both corners, with Miller testing the durability of this opponent and Cerrone showcasing his clear reach advantage. Cerrone’s reach played a huge part in the first five minutes and Miller had to take a step back to avoid being hurt.

Round two started instantly, with Cerrone snapping kicks to Miller’s torso. The Denver born fighter carried on working Miller’s body with a profusion of powerful kick shots, until the contest was paused for an incorrectly called low-blow — which gave Miller time to compose himself.

Donald, visibly angered with the call, had to shake off the badly refereed decision and continue his work on the A10’s fragile body.

Cerrone switched up his attacking prowess by landing a precise kick to Miller’s neck — advertently toppling the giant to the cage wall — before the bout was stopped.

Cerrone Battles Through

In 2012, Cerrone went toe-to-toe with Melvin Guillard in a fight that only lasted 4 minutes. Both men entered the octagon with unbridled respect for one another — with a long history of friendship and both being former training partners — but when the men stepped into the cage they both had only one job to do, battle it out.

The contest was held in Cerrone’s home town of Denver, Colorado, and the hometown-hero received a hard-earned ovation.

Only ten seconds into the first round, the underdog Guillard countered the hometown favourite with an overhead left, forcing the shell-shocked Donald to the canvas. Cerrone snapped back to his feet all-the-while being dangerously stalked by The Young Assassin.

Guillard, who took the fight on short notice and was clearly the underdog, was mapping out a photo-finish with Cerrone’s legs clearly wobbling. The wounded Cerrone was there for the taking, but Melvin would once again fall into his bad habits and pay the usual toll.

Cerrone jolted into action after being gifted with time to compose himself and launched a beautifully left-legged kick to Guillard’s head.

Cerrone finished the night with a straight right that placed The Young Assassin’s body sprawled face first on the canvas. Cerrone that evening, exhibited his endurance and attrition to get the job done after falling short early.

A Horror Story for Rick

In 2016, Cerrone moved up a weight in a search for the coveted gold belt. The American remained undefeated in his first four fights and was demonstrating that he was at his physical peak.

Cerrone was matched against Rick Story as the supporting cast at UFC 202, where Connor McGregor defeated Nate Diaz, but that didn’t stop the Cowboy stealing some of the limelight that evening.

That evening, Cerrone landed some of the best combinations ever witnessed inside a cage.

Story was the bookies’ favorite, but MMA betting can be unpredictable, with underdogs prevailing in the eight walls more often than not.

Not many expected Cerrone to finish the durable Story, especially in such an emphatic fashion.

Donald had found his stride and was countering his opponent and controlling the bout with spectacular prowess — mixing his style with hand combo hits and powerful knee shots.

The Southpaw, Story, attempted a straight left but was met with something far deadlier in response — jab, straight to the body, left hook and then a devastating right high kick.

The jaw-dropping combination raised a few eyebrows and sent Story wobbling towards the fence, with an adrenaline-filled Cerrone chasing down the injured Washington born-brawler.

Cerrone swarmed his opponent showing no mercy, landing big knee shots and a combination of hooks. Story’s face swallowed every hit and the referee had to interject to stop the bout as the Horror Story collapsed to the ground.

Chiselling Cerrone’s Name into the Record Books

For our final top-finish in Cerrone’s career, we journey back to 2016, where he fought fellow veteran, Matt Brown.

Before the two men stepped into the octagon, Brown was foul mouthing his UFC 206 opponent. He claimed that Cerrone was not an “honourable martial artist” but a common bully. The bad blood transcended into the weigh-ins, with Brown refusing to shake Cerrone’s hand.

The contest between the two fighters was a technical scrap, both men trading a variety of Kickboxing and Muay Thai blows.

Both camps had an arsenal of fight styles in their lockers, it was how they utilised it on the canvas that counted. Cerrone dictated the fight — visibly winning rounds on the scorecards — he controlled range with his jab and advertised his high-level kicking game to perfection.

The fight lasted longer than most anticipated as it made its way to the third and final five minutes.

Donald had landed his trademark head and body kicks throughout the fight and only Brown’s defensive capabilities and tough experience carried him past a barrage of attacks.

Dreaded fatigue set in for Brown when the third round came and Cerrone took full advantage of his opponent’s sloppy guard, launching a final head kick which put his opponent where he wanted him to be, on the canvas.

Cowboy looked down on the fighter he had picked apart, while his admiring crowd were still in awe of his outstanding finish. Dismantling Matt Brown fired Cerrone to stardom and solidified him as one of the most dangerous men on the planet.

It seems that every time Cerrone emerges from the eight-sided pit of violence, a new record is born. This workhorse still has plenty left in the tank to compete at the top level, so hats off to the Cowboy.

Top Betting Sites for Bettors in the US

There are innumerable gambling websites. But when we talk the best betting sites for US-based bettors, that narrows the field. It is somewhat ironic that American sports are the most popular in the world, yet it’s hard to bet on them in America. For example, Super Bowl sportsbooks more often than not operate out of Europe. Or the Caribbean. Before we go deeper into that, though, these are the top betting sites for bettors in the United States.

Not too long ago, that list would have been longer. However, the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed into law in 2006. The UIGEA changed online gambling in the US as we knew it. It was after this act was passed that many of the best betting sites no longer accepted US customers. That is to say, they no longer were the best. They took that measure mainly because the UIGEA rendered it illegal to process financial transactions related to online gambling. Mark this though; the UIGEA did not make it illegal for Americans to place wagers or play gambling games on the internet. Nonetheless, a great many people were concerned that it did. Therefore, many US citizens decided to steer clear from online betting and gaming.

Now, we are not lawyers. Nor do we play lawyers on television. Our advice should not be construed as legal counseling. The way we see it, any American who wishes to use the internet to bet can do so. Nay, should do so without having to worry about legal rami-percussions. The UIGEA had in its sights operators of gambling websites and financial institutions who enabled payments to and from them. But not individuals who make a conscious decision to spend their money on a harmless form of entertainment. That several states have introduced legislation to legalize and regulate appears to indicate the tide is turning. Still, there are a lot t’s to dot and i’s to cross and that’s not an ideal situation for US bettors. That’s why we have chosen the best betting sites to cut through the red tape.

We only recommend websites of which we ourselves are users. That means we trust them; they make us feel comfortable. A few of the words that describe these sites include but are not limited to reputable, trustworthy, safe, secure, and user-friendly. Not only do they accept customers from the US, but even give them priority over other countries. All of these websites’ performance in all important categories is constant and consistent. You’re in for a fun and satisfying experience. These are sites that provide a wide variety of gambling alternatives. This is good for people who enjoy more forms of betting and gaming than just one. It’s very hassle-free to have the ability to do this at a single website. Though there is something to be said about joining more than one site. For instance, you get to enjoy multiple sign-up bonuses. And that would just be the start.

Notwithstanding that, many people prefer to concentrate on just one form of gambling. On just one site. That’s the reason why the websites we recommend have the best sportsbooks, casinos, and poker platforms for gamblers living in the United States. Once again, we have made 100” sure our recommendations are limited to  places that are dependable and secure, include US-friendly banking methods, and comply with all other important requirements. All things considered, you and not the government is the only one who should regulate your gambling. And to make it easy to keep tabs on yourself, we only recommend sites that support responsible gambling

All you need to know about the upcoming Aussie Millions poker event

Author: Johan H.

Its mid-November and people are slowly getting ready for the upcoming Christmas festivities, and all that it entails. Poker players from around the world are winding down and preparing to spend some time with their loved ones and enjoy some time off from the game we all love.

When it comes to live poker tournaments across the world, there are 3 major events that stick out compared to others. We have of course the World Series of Poker which is held in Las Vegas every year, attracting thousands and thousands of players who want to participate in some or as many of the events as possible. This year was a special year for the event as it was the 50th event held since its inaugural event.

Given that the event was celebrating its 50th anniversary, organizers had set it to be one of the most impressive events held, with tons of different tournaments catering to all types of players. While it takes years of practice to get to one of these events, you can click here now and start your own journey to the festivities. A total of 73 was played during the 6 weeks the event was held, starting on May 28 and finishing with on July 16.

Winning the event and cashing in $10 million dollars was Hossein Ensan after beating Dario Sammartino a tough heads-up battle. A total of 8569 players paid the $10,000 buy-in to get a chance to walk away with this enormous purse, the second largest to this date. This is also why the event is considered to be in high regards like the NFL Super Bowl of poker tournaments in the northern hemisphere.

The second of the big three poker tournaments World Series of Poker Europe, an addition to the World Series of Poker brand that was created and added to the live tournament schedule in September, 2007. This year’s event concluded with the Main Event that saw 541 players paying the €10,350 entry fee, creating a first price worth €1,133,678 making this the second-largest main event in 12 years.

After a tough battle at the final table we saw the Greek player Alexandros Kolonias taking home the trophy after beating Claas Segebrech. However, this wasn’t what caught people’s attention the most, instead they were all focusing on the runner up in the WSOP Main Event, Dario Sammartino, who yet again made it to the final table. He couldn’t beat his 2nd place from Vegas, as he had to settle for 6th, walking away with €341,702 adding that to the $6 million received just a few months earlier.

The third and final major poker event held each year is the Aussie Millions, the southern hemispheres largest and most prestigious event, the Super Bowl of “down under”. The very first Aussie Millions event held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia went under the name Australian Poker Championship and was played in 1998. The event saw an A$1,000 buy-in which attracted a total of 74 players. During the 2018 version of the event, celebrating its 20th anniversary, organizers arranged several interesting events, alongside the main event including a whopping A$100,000 High roller buy-in event.

With 46 entries, the event generated a total prize pool of A$4,17 million, out of which the winner, Cary Katz, walked away with A$1,481,760 making this the third-largest A$100,000 since its inaugural event back in 2005.

The main event that same year saw a record-breaking field of players attracting a massive 822 in total generating a combined prize pool of A$8,220,000 out of which A$1,850,000 would go to the winner of the event.

It took 5 days before a winner finally could be crowned, with Bryn Kenney bring it home. However, with just 3 players left in the event, the remaining players decided to discuss a deal, splitting the remaining prize pool between them and with that taking away the pressure but also speeding up the 3-way battle.

Instead of the 1,8 million, Kenney settled for A$1,27 which is also what Mike Del Vecchio walked away with while 3rd place finisher, Andrew Hinrichsen, cashed in A$1,079,739 just over A$400,000 more than what third place should have paid.

Next Aussie Millions is scheduled to start on January 4, 2020 and will be the biggest event to be held at the Crown Casino. A total of 23 events are planned, scheduled to be played over 21 days. The anticipated Main Event is expected to break all previous records.
