Video: DMac Throws Out Runner At Home To End Game With Assist from Varitek

The most exciting play in baseball is probably the walkoff home run. Second to that is probably the walkoff base hit. But how exciting is the walkoff gunning down of a runner at the plate?

Pretty exciting if I do say myself.

Check out Boston Red Sox left fielder Darnell McDonald throwing out Toronto Blue Jays DH Edwin Encarnacion with a great assist from catcher Jason Varitek blocking the plate to preserve a 3-2 win for the local nine.

Video: Josh Beckett Snubs Heidi Watney For Postgame Interview

The “feud” between Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett and NESN sideline hottie Heidi Watney dates back to 2009 when during an interview Watney asked a question to Beckett. His response at the time was “I’ve already answered that question!”

And as FC so graciously reminded me, Watney said to Aaron Bates during an interview that “Josh isn’t the friendliest guy” and there was a look of terror on the eyes of Bates.

Well after Beckett put together a masterful performance in the 2-1 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday, Beckett exacted some more “revenge” on Watney when he snubbed her for a postgame interview.

Video: Pedey Lets Laz Diaz What He Thinks Of His Strike Zone

Never mind the fact that Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia got the game-tying two-run single in the eventual win over the Houston Astros on Friday night. He just had to let home plate umpire Laz Diaz what he thought while running said single out.

I’ll set the situation for you:

Pedroia took exception with a strike called by Diaz on a 2-1 count. Pedroia let Diaz know what he thought about the call before the next pitch. Now, I’ll let the video do the rest of the talking for me.

Video: Adrian Gonzalez Triples For 1000th Career Hit

When you think of Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, I’m pretty sure him hitting a triple isn’t the first thing you expect from him when he gets to the plate. You probably expect him to get a single, double or maybe even a home run.

But definitely not a triple especially considering he had only 10 in his career which includes two this season.

With Gonzalez sitting on 999 career hits in the 4th inning of Sunday’s eventual 12-3 win, he laced a ball to the triangle off of Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo and ended up on third base for his third triple of the year. More importantly it was the 1000th hit of his career and 100th of the season in a Red Sox uniform.

But what’s funny about it is a few things actually.

First off, Gonzalez isn’t exactly the fastest runner on the Red Sox and he’ll tell you just that. Secondly, he has more triples than Jacoby Ellsbury this season (Ellsbury has one). And lastly, he’s second on the Red Sox in triples beyond the recently DL’d Carl Crawford who has four this year.

Oh and by the way, he’s now hitting .348 on the season and leads all of MLB with 64 runs batted in this season.

I guess we can see why Theo Epstein and the Red Sox have coveted this guy for the past few years. And the best part is that we get seven more years of him in Boston.
