Charles Leads UConn To 22 Point Win Over Hoyas To Clinch Big East

The last time UConn Huskies senior center Tina Charles was honored before a game, she went and had one her of best games. After being honored along with four other seniors, Charles did it again.

Charles had a season-high 33 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to help lead the No. 1/1 Huskies to an 84-62 victory over the No. 13/11 Georgetown Hoyas in front of 15,733 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT.

The win helped the Huskies (29-0, 15-0 Big East) clinch their fourth straight Big East regular season title. It’s also their 68th straight win and are now just two wins away from tying their own record of 70 wins that the 2001-03 team did. The Hoyas fall to 23-5 (12-3 Big East).

Video: 2010 UConn Huskies Women’s Senior Day

Before the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team beat the Georgetown Hoyas by 22 points to win the regular season Big East title, the five seniors were honored before the game.

Tina Charles, Kalana Greene, Kaili McLaren, Meghan Gardler and Jacquie Fernandes all received a framed jersey from head coach Geno Auriemma, who also started all five of them.

Starting on Friday afternoon, ESPN started to show a documentary about the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team entitled “The Climb: UConn’s Quest for Perfection”.

It’s a detailed behind-the-scenes look into the 2009-10 University of Connecticut women’s basketball team.

Additional episodes are tentatively scheduled to air on ESPNU on March 5, March 19 and April 2. Air times for each date are 3:30 p.m. (ET) and 11:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU – but are subject to change.

Video: Don Orsillo Is Ready For 2010

NESN Boston Red Sox play-by-play man Don Orsillo is down in Ft. Myers getting ready for the 2010 season.

On Friday, he stopped by the NESN set at the Red Sox minor league development complex to talk with Tom Caron and Peter Gammons about the upcoming 2010 season. He talks about returning to normalcy with Jerry Remy back in the booth for a full season, what it’s like to do a spring training game and opening up against the Yankees among other things.
