Former UConn Huskies center Hasheem Thabeet has been traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Thunder have also sent cash to the 76ers while receiving a second round draft pick in 2015 and a trade exception.
According to reports, Thabeet will be waived by the 76ers making him a free agent.
Thabeet was drafted second overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2009 NBA Draft and has played for four teams including the Grizzlies. They are the Houston Rockets (traded in 2010-11 season to them), Portland Trailblazers (traded to them in 2011-12 season) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (signed with them in 2012).
In 224 career games in the NBA, the former Husky has averaged 10.5 minutes, 2.2 PPG and 2.7 RPG.
It’ll be interesting to see if any team takes a chance on Thabeet or if he ends up in the D League. It’s also possible he could end up playing in Europe, mostly because of his height.
