Lowly Clippers Beat The Celtics

Boston Celtics: Zach Randolph scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 93-91 upset win over the Boston Celtics last night at the Staples Center. Baron Davis added 16 points and Hartford’s Marcus Camby had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Paul Pierce, who dislocated his thumb twice during the game but continued to play, led the Celtics with 20 points. Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen both added 17 points and Glen “Big Baby” Davis had 14. The Celtics finished up their west coast swing 4-2 and return home to the friendly confines of the TD BankNorth Garden on Friday night to take on the Indiana Pacers. [ESPN.com]

Eck Signs Up For More “Fun” At TBS

TBS SportsTBS announced on Monday that Hall of Famer and current NESN Boston Red Sox analyst Dennis Eckersley has been signed to a multi-year extension by the network.

Eckersley will be an analyst for the MLB All-Star Selection Show and the MLB Postseason including the LDS and LCS. He will serve as analyst on select TBS MLB Sunday games.

With Eck back at TBS, I guess we’ll be seeing more of these types of situations this season.

Rich Eisen Runs The 40 At the NFL Combine

This may have been the best part of the NFL Combine that finished up today in Indianapolis.

For the 5th time, the NFL Network’s Rich Eisen ran the 40-yard dash in his suit and tie. The funnier part though is after he runs it when Deion Sanders and the crew break it down. Even Boston College’s B.J. Raji is faster than Eisen.

Gov. Rell Not Happy With Calhoun

Apparently Connecticut governor Jodi Rell is not very happy with the display put on by UConn Huskies men’s coach Jim Calhoun when he was asked about his salary after Saturday’s game.

“I think if coach Calhoun had the opportunity right now, he would welcome a do-over and not have that embarrassing display,” she said, speaking to reporters after a meeting with business leaders and local college officials.

Asked what she considered embarrassing, Rell said Calhoun’s whole tone.

In my opinion, Calhoun had every right to say what he said, no matter the tone. A postgame press conference is neither the time nor the place to be asked such a stupid question. Yes I know the times are tough right now (no one knows that better than me) but I’m pretty sure if you were asked that question, you wouldn’t want to answer it or would give a snide answer back.

Are you Ready For Don & The RemDawg?

NESN Bobbledesk

With NESN getting ready to air it’s first Boston Red Sox spring training game tomorrow night, I thought it’d be a good time to look back at some of the finer moments from the dynamic duo.

And with the Red Sox playing the Minnesota Twins, I thought this clip would be an appropriate start even though Manny Ramirez and Julian Tavarez aren’t part of the team anymore.

More Pedroia Motion Capture Video For MLB 09 The Show

Dustin Pedroia

As we know, reigning AL MVP and current Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is the cover athlete for the Sony’s MLB 09 The Show for Playstation.

He spent some time in the motion capture studios at Sony’s studios and the Los Angeles Times gives us another look it.

Cody Brown Also Has Impressive NFL Combine

The way the numbers are rolling in for the four members of the UConn Huskies football team participating in the NFL Combine, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see them all go on Day 1 of the NFL Draft in April.

Just like his teammates, Cody Brown put together some great numbers this afternoon at the Combine as he finished as a top performer in 5 of the 7 categories.

Brown also worked out during the linebacker portion as he’s considered a hybrid defensive player that can either play the defensive line or linebacker.

Darius Butler will get his chance to shine tomorrow when he takes part in the drills with all of the defensive backs.
