59-Year Old Football Will Finally Suit Up

Sul Ross State University

A little while back, Steve told you about 59-year old Mike Flynt who decided he wanted to play college football again after being kicked off the Sul Ross State University team before his senior season.

Flynt made the team on his own merit but unfortunately missed the first two games with an injury. Not surprising considering he is 59 after all.

This Saturday he will make his appearance for the Lobos as they take on their American Southwest Conference foes, the Crusaders from Mary Hardin-Baylor. Gramps will be playing linebacker in the game.

He will not be the oldest player to play in a college football game. That honor goes to 60-year old Edgard Barreto, who played one down in a blowout for Ashland (Ohio) University. He will be the oldest though play regularly.

We will be rooting for you Mike.

Red Sox vs Yankees – Retaliation Time?

It’s that time again when the Red Sox play the Yankees and this one has the makings of a good series. You could possibly see the Red Sox retaliate against the Yanks for what Joba did the last time the teams played. You have a matchup of two Cy Young candidates on Saturday in Josh Beckett and Chien-Mien Wang. You have a chance for the Red Sox to wrap up the AL East. The Yanks are probably playing for the wild card but this weekend will tell the story for us.

Red Sox/Yankees News & Notes – 9/14

Josh vs Joba

It’s that time of the season again folks, Red Sox vs Yankees. The Red Sox come into the game with 5 1/2 game lead over the Yankees and had the day off on Thursday. The Yankees, on the other hand, are coming into Boston having lost on a walk-off hit to the Toronto Blue Jays last night. It should be an interesting series to say the least. I guess the biggest question to be answered is whether or not the Sox will retaliate against the Yanks for what Joba Chamberlain did to Kevin Youkilis the last time these two teams met. Here is a look at the video and the headlines from the Boston area and New York media on this chilly late summer morning in New England.
