Pearl Harbor Day

Please take a moment of your day today to remember the people who gave their lives on this day back in 1941 defending our country.
If you ever go to Hawaii, I highly advise going over to Pearl Harbor and doing the tour. It will leave you speechless.
Happy Thanksgiving

Steve and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Veterans Day

Thank you to all of those that have served, or are currently serving in the American Armed Forces.
A Saturday Smorgasbord

While waiting for my lasagna to cook (yes ladies you heard that right, this man can cook) and not too much going on in the local sports here and Ian off at “The Rent”, where the UConn Huskies enjoyed a 40-16 victory over Cincinnati on Homecoming, I figured I’d give you sort of a potpourri or pot luck, maybe even a smorgasbord of stuff in the news. Now sit down, shut up and hold on because this ride is about to start.
I already told you the Huskies won today, Ian will have the recap later but did you know that:
- It was their first win over Cincinnati in five tries?
- Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis was on the sidelines today cheering on his beloved Bearcats?
Looks like several NFL players failed some drug tests in the last week or so and sources are saying that three of the players are members of the New Orleans Saints. And no their names aren’t Brees or Bush.
Couple quick announcing miscues, CBS’s Gary Danielson on the Georgia-LSU game pulled a Joey Tribiani as used “supposably” in the broadcast. And Jon Congemi who did the analysis on the UConn game couldn’t stop calling Brad Kanuch (Kahn-Yoo), Brad Cain-uck. Just bad prep on Congemi’s part.
The Indianapolis Colts (or for listener’s of WEEI’s Big Show…Cults, way to go Beefy) are denying that Peyton Mannings additional procedure was due to a staph infection.
The Digital Conversion
As you all know in February 2009 all over the air television signals will be broadcast in digital. Analog sets will no longer be able to receive the OTA signal unless you have converted the television. The Federal Government has released a helpful, easy to follow, handy dandy video explaining how to do the simple conversion.
OOPS! My Bad
When we moved to our new host, we were looking to escape the problems that took the site offline. As you may have noticed, the site was down for a considerable amount of time yesterday. It’s not because I didn’t pay the bill, it’s not because of something the host did at all, it was simply my fault plain and simple. I installed a plugin to help with search engine optimization (SEO) that ended up hurting us on the backend because it caused the server to overload. Put that on top of another plugin that was causing the same issue and I don’t blame them for putting the site offline until the problems were fixed. Oddly enough while I was making the necessary changes to the site yesterday, I also realized that I hadn’t updated a backend file on the site to make it use PHP5. Since a good portion of the PHP code that is used is PHP5 and I was running PHP4 even though I had made the changes to the main domain (theo6111.com), it didn’t automatically take for this domain. So that problem has been corrected as well. My thanks to all the great sites that linked over to us yesterday and my apologies to them as well since they were sending their readers to a site that was down. Also my apologies go out to everyone who stops by the site to check us out.
Funny Sign Seen Entering Connecticut
While we all anxiously await Game 1 of the ALCS between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays tonight, let’s take a look at this sign seen when you cross the border into Connecticut.
