Well it turns out my speculation from last night was correct. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one of the two players I thought it was. But then again both Rich Hill and Hideki Okajima pitched in Pawtucket’s game last night.
According to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe, the Boston Red Sox have designated Dennys Reyes for assignment. To take his place on the 25-man roster, they have recalled Felix Doubront from Triple-A Pawutcket.
Reyes appeared in four games, going 1.2 innings with a 16.20 ERA (1.2 IP/3 ER) allowing two hits, two walks with one strikeout.
Doubront missed part of spring training with some elbow issues. But after some rest and rehab, he got back on track and was scheduled to start the season as a starter in Pawtucket. Now he’ll be the only lefty in the Red Sox bullpen.
