After getting shellacked last night, the Boston Red Sox will look to keep their very slim playoff hopes alive and take the series against the Tampa Bay Rays in the finale of a three-game set at Fenway Park.
Tonight's game will start at 7:10 p.m. and will be shown on NESN in the Red Sox television market. The game will be broadcast on Sun Sports in the Rays television market. And if you don't live in either market, you're in luck as the game will also be shown on ESPN Wednesday night baseball. If you can't catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2010 Red Sox radio network.
Tim Wakefield will be making his 29th appearance (18th start) in a Red Sox uniform this season. In his previous 28 appearances (17 starts), Wake is just 3-10 with a 5.19 ERA. He's made one start against the Rays in 2010 back on July 7th where he took the loss after allowing six runs in 5 2/3 innings. He's made 43 apperances (33 starts) against the Rays in his career and is 20-6 with a 3.60 ERA and three saves.
Matt Garza will be making his 29th appearance (28th start) for the AL Wild Card-leading Rays. In his previous 28 appearances (27 starts), Garza is 14-7 with a 3.46 ERA and one save. He's made six appearances (five starts) against the Red Sox in 2010 and is 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA and one save. He's made 18 appearances (17 starts) against the Red Sox in his career and is 7-3 with a 3.48 ERA and one save. He's made eight career starts at Fenway Park and is 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA.

It looks like the XL Center in Hartford, CT, the home of UConn Huskies men's and women's basketball as well as the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack, will have a new look to the basketball court for the 2010-11 season.

The first official poll of the 2010 season is out and it should come as no surprise that the Alabama Crimson Tide are still the No. 1 team in the land. It's still way too early in the season to know who the best team in the country is but they will start to materialize over the next few weeks.
Surprisingly enough, six of the coaches who vote in the USA Today Poll decided that my UConn Huskies were still good enough to receive six votes. The only Big East team that is currently ranked is the West Virginia Mountaineers who come in at 23 in the AP Poll and 22 in the USA Today Poll.
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati represent the Big East in the others receiving votes in the AP Poll while Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and South Florida were among the others receiving votes in the USA Today Poll.
A full look at the poll can be seen by clicking on the read more button if you're on the homepage.

Each week, a group of the college football bloggers here at Bloguin get together and put together our top 3 Heisman candidates for each week. Sure it's early in the season but a Heisman candidacy is earned over the whole entire season.
After getting in our votes by Tuesday night, the fine folks at Randall Simon's Sausages put together all our votes and on Wednesday afternoon, they put out the voting from everyone. If you missed last week's Bloguin Heisman Poll be sure to check it out.
These were the three players I submitted last week and the reasons why.
- Case Keenum, Houston Cougars QB – After putting up ridiculous numbers in 2009, Keenum’s numbers will be too hard for the Heisman voters to overlook.
- Mark Ingram, Alabama Crimson Tide RB – Last year’s winner should put up the numbers to keep himself in consideration all year.
- Terrelle Pryor, The Ohio State Buckeyes QB – With a great supporting cast behind him, this could be his year.
This week, I made one change to my ballot. I took out Mark Ingram. He didn't play in week one and may not play this week. He'll have to earn his way back into my ballot for right now unless one of the my top three fizzles.
Here are the three players I submitted this week and why.
- Case Keenum, Houston Cougars QB – Backed up my #1 pick last week with 274 yards and five touchdown passes
- Terrelle Pryor, The Ohio State Buckeyes QB – Pryor put up good numbers, 247 yards and three touchdown passes. Can’t drop him for that.
- Kellen Moore, Boise State Broncos QB – Brent Musberger said after the game we must take notice of Moore for the Heisman so here he is.
So folks what do you think? I am on with my picks or did I miss someone?
