Bill Belichick coached teams are 15-11 vs. Miami. Belichick is 15-9 as Patriots head coach and he was 0-2 as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
Overall in his NFL career Belichick is 183-100 in his 18th NFL season. He is 147-56 with New England and 36-44 with Cleveland. He is 17-7 in the playoffs, 16-6 as head coach of the Patriots in the post season. When you combine his regular season and post season records he is 200-107.
Belichick’s 200 wins are good for 8th all-time. Former Broncos, Giants and Falcons head coach Dan Reeves is 7th with 201 wins.
Belichick is one of five head coaches in NFL history whose father (Steve Belichick) played in the league. Miami head coach Joe Philbin in his 1st season as an NFL head coach; he is 5-6 since taking over.
He has never coached against New England in his career.
Philbin, a Springfield MA native, is a former high school player and coach at Longmeadow (MA) High School. He also coached at Northeastern and Harvard as the offensive coordinator.
Prior to coming to Miami he was the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers since 2007.
He is the 10th head coach in Miami franchise history.
Philbin lost his 21-year old son Michael this past January in a tragic water accident in Wisconsin. He and his wife also have five other children.
Defensive Coordinator Kevin Coyle played DB at UMass from 1975-77. He coached at College of the Holy Cross from 1982-1990.
Assistant special teams coach Dave Fipp coached at the College of the Holy Cross from 1998-99.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is in his first season in the NFL and he is 5-6. He was Miami’s first round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.
He has never faced New England in his career.
He set the Miami rookie record for passing yards (2,373) last Sunday when he passed Dan Marino (2,210).
Tannehill was the first rookie QB to start a season opener in Dolphins history.
