The New England Patriots pulled off yet another mid week roster shuffle Thursday when they promoted LB Jeff Tarpinian from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Tarpinian, who played his college ball at Iowa, was originally on the 53-man roster before Week 1’s game at Miami. He was declared out with an injury and then released when the team needed additional offensive line help for the game. After clearing waivers, he was re-signed the next day to the practice squad.
The casualty of the Tarpinian promotion was oddly enough a second former Iowa linebacker, A.J. Edds. He was claimed from Miami just days before the season opener and was expected to play in third down situations but he has had difficulty moving on the field due to lingering injuries.
The Patriots then signed defensive back Josh Victorian to the practice squad. The Baltimore Ravens originally signed the Metairie, LA native as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech; he was released after training camp.
