With the New England Patriots facing at the mandatory cutdown of rosters to 53 players on Saturday, there are several players currently on the 80-man roster eligible for the practice squad.

New England PatriotsTeams are allowed to have up to 8 players on the practice squad.  At noon on Sunday teams can establish their practice squad rosters.

Players are eligible for the practice squad once they have been cut and cleared waivers.  They must have less than three seasons on the practice squad roster or a year of NFL experience, which is 6 or more games, on a teams 53-man roster or the official injured reserve.  Rookies are eligible by default.

Practice squad players are not allowed to play in games unless they are transferred to the 53-man roster from the practice squad of their current team.  The other 31 teams can sign players from a teams practice squad but they must be assigned to the 53-man roster of the team signing them.  Practice squad players are considered to be free agents.
