UCONN Football News

On Tuesday, Coach Randy Edsall announced that starting cornerback Darius Butler will be the back up quarterback in the Louisville game on Saturday. Should Matt Bonislawski get hurt, Butler will play both sides of the ball. The reason Butler is the backup QB is because DJ Hernandez is out with a wrist injury and Edsall doesn’t want Dennis Brown to lose his redshirt this season.

Let’s hope Bones can make it thru a game so we don’t have to watch the Huskies get embarrassed on national TV on Saturday.

Lady Huskies Trash Terriors

Mistle Toe

It’s that time of the year when we all will be attending Christmas parties and avoiding “Marge” in accounting under the mistle toe. Let’s hope your kisses under the mistle toe are better than this one.

Manny To Be Traded??

With his trade value at a high due to the recent contracts signed by other outfielders, the Boston Red Sox are in serious negotiations with the San Francisco Giants about Manny Ramirez. Manny had repeatedly asked to be traded in the past and it seems the Red Sox are calling his bluff.

With the impending signing of J.D. Drew, the Sox think they can get something good for him. The Sox should take a look at what happened to the NY Yankees when they traded away Gary Sheffield. They only got prospects for him. The Sox could also look to dump Matt Clement’s contract in a deal.

Personally, I think it’s a dumb deal to make. Without Manny, you can expect Big Papi to walk 200 times. Manny provides excellent protection batting behind Papi. And if Big Papi ain’t hitting anything, the Sox aren’t winning.   I don’t care what they say, trading away Manny is dumb.

Typical Red Sox

According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox and Japanese pitcher, Daisuke Matsuzaka, are very far apart in their negotiation’s. The Red Sox are offering $7 million a year, while Matsuzaka’s agent, Scott Boras, is looking for $15 million a year. They still have 3 weeks to get the deal done.

Where have we seen this before? If you were thinking last year with Johnny Damon, you are correct. It seems as though the Sox have valued him at the $7 million mark while Bora’s client wants more. The good thing is at least the Sox can’t lose him to the Yankees just yet. They do run that risk though if they are unable to sign him. He would then be returned to the Seibu Lions and probably placed back out to bid at the end of the 2007 Japanese league season.

All I know is the Red Sox better not screw this up. He is the real deal from all accounts. Hopefully both sides can find a happy medium so the fans of Red Sox Nation can see Daisuke in the #18 Red Sox uniform. Ironically, that was Damon’s number when he played in Boston.
