The Arizona Fall League, a place where top prospects of each MLB organization, get a chance to play some more baseball with some of the top talent in the game. This year in 2012, the Boston Red Sox will be sending four of their minor leaguers.
They are:
- RHP Brock Huntzinger
- RHP Chris Martin
- RHP Pete Ruiz
- OF Bryce Brentz
All four of them will be playing for the Surprise Saguaros along with players from the Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
Huntzinger played in the AFL in 2011 where he went 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in eight games (six starts). He is currently playing for the Pawtucket Red Sox after being promoted from the Portland Sea Dogs. With the Sea Dogs this season, Huntzinger was 4-5 with a 3.93 ERA in 38 games (four starts).
Martin has spent the 2012 season with the Sea Dogs going 3-5 with a 4.35 ERA in 21 games (12 starts).
Ruiz spent two games with the GCL Red Sox where he had no record with a 9.00 ERA (3 ER/3 IP) in two appearances (one start). He is currently playing for the Salem Red Sox where he is 5-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 26 appearances.
Brentz has spent the 2012 season with the Sea Dogs where he is batting .298 with 17 home runs, 76 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
