I’ve been getting a few emails lately so I thought I would take a few minutes to answer them.

Let’s get this rolling with the first question:

Q: Yo slacker, the Red Sox had Truck Day on Friday and yet I didn’t see a post on the site. Plus you haven’t let us know of who’s arrived at spring training.

A: My apologies. I had some personal things to take care of and was unable to get to a post done.

Q: You haven’t really done any Red Sox posts other than the press releases as of late. Did you happen to forget about the Red Sox?

A: No I haven’t forgotten about them at all. Covering more than one team is time consuming. But rest assured now that spring training has started, I plan to offer up more Red Sox coverage again like you are used to.

Q: What’s up with the homepage and no more full posts? Are you trying to gather more page views?

A: I recently received an email from my hosting company saying my site was using too many resources. One of their suggestions was to make a static front page or at least cut down the amount of what’s on the front page. I’ve been following their suggestions as best as I can.

I’ve also switched to a different cache plugin which seems to have helped as well. Part of the problem also stems from attacks from the google and yahoo bots that visit the site. I’ll be changing my robots.txt file to limit how often the bots can visit. The google bot is visiting about 1600 times a day even if I don’t post anything. I had it set to check every hour but that’ll be changed as well.

As far as the page views go, sure it’s nice but I don’t concern myself with that. I’m more concerned with putting together a site that you and others will want to visit again.

Q: I noticed Steve’s been posting again on the site. Is he back for good or will he be posting when he can?

A: As far now, Steve will be posting when he can. As a matter of fact, Steve’s been working on a huge MLB preview post that will run in  early March.

Q: Why did you eliminate the Patriots and Celtics coverage?

A: The Patriots were Steve’s thing. I did my best to do what I could but like I said in December when I took a break, it was just too overwhelming to do the Red Sox and UConn. When Steve is able to return to the site and have the time to do the Patriots, then I’m sure we’ll have more Patriots coverage. But for now, we’ll get into anything major that happens with them.

As far as the Celtics go, Steve and I were just doing generic recaps of the games. Honestly, you can find better resources out there for the Celtics.
