Boston Celtics: Paul Pierce had 29 points and Leon Powe added a double-double to help the Boston Celtics beat the Eastern Conference leading Cleveland Cavaliers 105-94. Powe had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Ray Allen had 17 points. Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Kendrick Perkins both added 10 points while Rajon Rondo had 10 assists. The Cavs were led by Mo Williams who had 26 points. King (LeBron) James had a bad night from the floor (5-of-15) but finished with 21 points. Boston Celtics: Paul Pierce hit the game-winning jumper with 20.9 seconds to help the Boston Celtics to a 115-111 win over the New Jersey Nets at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Pierce led the way  for the Green with 31 points while Rajon  Rondo added 20 points. Kendrick Perkins added 17 points and 13 rebounds while former UConn Husky Ray Allen had 16. Vince Carter led the Nets with 34 points. All-Star Devin  Harris had 25 points and 11 assists while Jarvis Hayes came off the bench to score 16. Just a got a tip from a source that former UConn Husky and current Boston Celtic Ray Allen and a group of investors will be buying the Willimantic Country Club located in Willimantic, CT. The deal is expected to be announced sometime tomorrow afternoon. The plan is to make it a private country club. It is currently a semi-private country club.

Update: In doing some digging of my own and I am now hearing from the source that it may be former UConn Husky Donny Marshall and not Ray Allen who will purchase the club. I do hope to get an official answer in the next day. I do apologize for the misinformation.

Boston Celtics: Former UConn Husky Richard Hamiton had 25 points to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 105-95 win over the Boston Celtics at the TD BankNorth Garden.  Paul Pierce led the Green with 26 points while Glen “Big Baby” Davis added 18.  In his second game with C’s, Stephon Marbury was held scoreless. Stephon Marbury & Gabe Pruitt: The Boston Celtics have signed Stephon Marbury to a 1-year contract that is a pro-rated share of the veteran’s minimum of $1.3 million. “We are very excited to have a player of Stephon’s caliber joining our team,” Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said in a statment. “Our entire organization is confident in the belief that Stephon can play an important role in helping us to win another championship.” [ESPN.com] Jessica Camerato of WEEI.com is reporting that the Celtics have suspended Gabe Pruitt for 2 games for conduct detrimental to the team. Mikki Moore and Stephon Marbury: The Boston Celtics signed the recently waived Mikki Moore to a contract for the rest of the season yesterday. Moore will provide some frontcourt depth for the Celtics while Kevin Garnett is out. [WEEI.com] The New York Knicks finally reached a buyout agreement with disgruntled point guard Stephon Marbury and it’s believed that he will sign with the Celtics once he clears waivers. Boston Celtics: For the second night in a row without Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics had no trouble on the court as they easily took care of the Denver Nuggets 114-76. Ray Allen led the way with 26 points while Paul Pierce had 22. Leon Powe came off the bench to score 16 points and Rajon Rondo added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. J.R. Smith led the Nuggets with 19 points and Carmelo Anthony added 18. Patrick O’Bryant: During all the frenzy on the NBA trade deadline day, the Boston Celtics traded Patrick O’Bryant to the Toronto Raptors for Will Solomon. The Celtics then traded Solomon to the Sacramento Kings for a future second round draft pick. [WEEI.com]

Paul Pierce is the hero: Another night, another fourth quarter rally by the Boston Celtics helped them to a victory, this time over the Dallas Mavericks 99-92 in Dallas. Paul Pierce led the comeback for the Celtics with 18 of his 31 points coming in the decisive fourth quarter. Ray Allen’s thumb was fine as he scored 20 points while Rajon Rondo picked up his second career triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists. Kevin Garnett added 16 points for the Celtics who lost coach Doc Rivers to an ejection in the 3rd quarter. Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers in the game with 37 points. Josh Howard chipped in with 17 points while Antoine Wright had 10. With the All-Star Game this weekend, the Celtics are off until next Thursday when they will take on the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
