Huskies Withstand Challenge From Sooners For 65th Straight Win
After a lackluster performance in the 14 point win over St. John’s on Saturday, the No. 1/1 UConn Huskies had a plan of making a point in front of a nationally-televised audience against the No. 11/12 Oklahoma Sooners. Instead, the Huskies got all they could handle from Sheri Coale’s Sooners squad.
It took a strong second half effort to get the job done but the Huskies would prevail 76-60 in front of 11,865 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK on another WBCA Pink Zone game to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
Walker Leads Huskies To Upset of Wildcats
After watching the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team on Saturday, you really had to wonder how they would respond against the No. 3 team in the nation, the Villanova Wildcats. Head coach Jim Calhoun said that only one player stood out against Cincinnati and that was point guard Kemba Walker.

Charles In Charge As Huskies Beat Red Storm
Tina Charles showed UConn Huskies fans why she was inducted into the “Huskies of Honor” before the game on Saturday with her performance against the St. John’s Red Storm.
Charles had 25 points and a career-high 21 rebounds to help the Huskies to 66-52 win over the Red Storm in front of 10,167 in the WBCA Pink Zone game to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund at Gampel Pavilion.
It’s the 64th straight win for the No. 1/1 Huskies as they improve to 25-0 (12-0 Big East). It’s also the second straight season they’ve started 25-0. The No. 25/24 Red Storm lose just their fifth game as they fall to 20-5 (8-4 Big East).
Huskies Fall Flat In Calhoun’s Return To Sidelines
UConn Huskies head coach Jim Calhoun made his return known in the first 55 seconds of the game when he made two substitutions.
Unfortunately though, Calhoun’s return wasn’t enough to inspire the Huskies to a victory as they lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats 60-48 in front of 14,605 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies fall to 14-11 (4-8 Big East) and saw their slim chances of making the NCAA Tournament leave the building. The Bearcats get a much needed Big East road win as they improve to 15-9 (6-6 Big East).
