NEW YORK, November 10, 2014 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the team has recalled forward Jesper Fast from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team has also assigned defenseman Conor Allen and forward Ryan Malone to Hartford.

Fast, 22, has registered one goal and eight assists for nine points in 11 games with Hartford since he joined the team on October 17. Fast has tallied a point in seven of his last eight games with the Wolf Pack, and had posted a six-game point streak (one goal, six assists over the span) prior to being recalled.

Fast is tied for 10th in the AHL in assists (eight) this season. He is also tied for the team lead in assists and is tied for third on the Wolf Pack in points (nine) in 2014-15.

The 6-0, 185-pounder has skated in three games with the Rangers this season, recording three shots on goal and two blocked shots.

Allen was credited with six hits and recorded two shots on goal in four games with the Rangers after being recalled on November 2. Prior to being recalled by the Rangers, Allen had recorded two goals and three assists for five points in eight games with the Wolf Pack this season. He was tied for third on Hartford in goals and was tied for fifth on the team in assists and points at the time he was recalled.

Malone has recorded six shots on goal and has been credited with 14 hits in six games with the Rangers this season.

Hershey, PA, November 9, 2014 – Oscar Lindberg scored two goals, including the third-period game-winner, Sunday at Giant Center, to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack to a 3-2 win over the Hershey Bears, in the second of back-to-back games between the two teams.

Hershey took the first of the two contests Saturday night, scoring four third-period goals to erase a 2-0 deficit, in a 4-2 win.

“I think we played a pretty greasy game, and we had some good power plays and we found a way to win, that’s what counts,” said Lindberg, who upped his team-leading goal total on the year to eight.  “On the power play I got some good looks and a good shot, and those pucks don’t go in if we don’t have a screen, and our guys did a good job in there.”

With the score tied 2-2 early in the third, Hershey goaltender Pheonix Copley (26 saves) made a sharp save on Ryan Haggerty, off of a pass from Marek Hrivik, but the Wolf Pack continued to attack.  Seconds later, Dallas Jackson pinched down from the left point to keep the puck in, and Lindberg, covering the point for Jackson, fired the puck at the net with Hrivik screening, and the shot eluded Copley at 2:31.

Wolf Pack goaltender Mackenzie Skapski, who ended up with 22 saves in the game, made that goal hold up by stopping 12 Hershey shots in the third, to improve his AHL record to 3-0-0.  Jackson had two assists, for his first Wolf Pack points in four games with the team, and Chris Bourque also scored.

Connor Carrick and Nathan Walker scored first-period goals for the Bears.

The Wolf Pack outshot the Bears 13-2 in the first period but came out of it down 3-2, as Hershey scored on both of its shots on goal.

Carrick, who scored in Saturday’s third period, put Hershey on top only 2:34 into Sunday’s game, in a four-on-four situation.  Carrick moved down the right-wing side, and used Mat Bodie as a screen, to beat Skapski with a shot to the glove side.

The Wolf Pack answered that only 59 seconds later on a power play, as Lindberg clicked for his first of the game at 3:33.  Lindberg stickhandled off of the right-wing boards and shot from near the top of the circle, putting the puck through a Justin Vaive screen and past Copley.

Hershey responded at 8:24, with Walker scoring his first goal of the season on a deflection.  Eric Burgdoerfer wristed the puck at the net from the middle of the blue line, and Walker redirected it past Skapski’s stick side.

The Wolf Pack continued their territorial dominance on the first shift of the second period, and tied the score only 55 seconds in.

Chris Bourque, who won three Calder Cups as a member of the Bears earlier in his career, scored his fourth Wolf Pack goal to tie it at two, heading hard toward the net from the right-wing side to deflect the puck in, after Jackson slapped it at the net from the left point.

The Wolf Pack are now off until this Friday, November 14, when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the XL Center in a 7:00 PM game.  Once again this season, every Friday night home game features $1 hot dogs and $2 beers through the start of the second period.

Hershey, PA, November 8, 2014 – The Hershey Bears scored four third-period goals Saturday night at Giant Center, erasing a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-2, in the first of back-to-back games between the two teams.

Former Wolf Pack Kris Newbury had the game-winning goal with 3:18 left in the third, and added an empty-netter, and Chris Brown and Connor Carrick also scored in Hershey’s third-period burst.  Oscar Lindberg and J.T. Miller had the Wolf Pack goals, and Jesper Fast assisted on both.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Wolf Pack, who fell to 7-3-1-0 on the season.

“Obviously it’s tough to lose that game, I thought we outplayed them for 50 minutes,” Miller said.  It’s just a matter of how it works, you’ve got to find ways to win that hockey game.”

The Wolf Pack carried a 2-0 lead into the third, and that held up until Brown got the Bears on the board at the 10:07 mark, with Hartford’s Dallas Jackson off for tripping.  Brown’s shot from the top of the left-wing circle hit Wolf Pack defenseman Dylan McIlrath’s leg and deflected past goaltender Cedrick Desjardins (4-1-0), who suffered his first Wolf Pack loss despite making 29 saves.

Carrick then tied the score only 1:06 later, at 11:13, on a shot from high in the slot that squeezed through Desjardins’ pads.

That set the stage for Newbury’s game-winner, which came on a deflection at 16:42.  Ex-Connecticut Whale Casey Wellman fired the puck at the net from the left-wing boards and Newbury, left alone in front of the goal, tipped it perfectly past Desjardins and into the net.

Newbury’s eighth goal of the season with 7.8 seconds remaining sealed the comeback victory for Hershey, after the Wolf Pack had pulled Desjardins for an extra attacker.

After killing a pair of penalties in the first period, the Wolf Pack grabbed the game’s first lead on a power play of their own at 13:40.

With former Wolf Pack Dane Byers off for roughing, Lindberg increased his team-leading goal total to six, taking a pass from Mat Bodie on the left-wing side, cutting to the middle and beating Hershey goaltender Philipp Grubauer (28 saves) over the catching glove.

The Wolf Pack were outshot 12-9 in the second period, but were able to double their lead, with Miller scoring his third goal of the year at 8:16.

Miller handed the puck to Fast and headed up the middle, and Fast beat Byers’ check on right wing, before centering back to Miller for the finish.
