The first weekend of college football is over and the Big East Conference handed out it’s weekly football awards.

Witten had five tackles and three sacks, including one for a safety. Witten is one of 30 preseason candidates for the 2009 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award.

UConn running back Jordan Todman was also honored by the Big East.

He was named to the Big East Honor Roll for his performance in the win. He carried the ball twenty-five times for a career-high of 157 yards and added a touchdown.
