Even though he hasn’t played a game at UConn, freshman Ater Majok has decided to put his name in for the upcoming 2009 NBA Draft.
He does not plan to hire an agent and will most likely pull his name out by the June 15th deadline.
“After meeting with my family, I have decided that it is in my best interest,” Majok said in a statement. “I feel it will help me to test the process and get feedback on my strengths and weaknesses. It will allow me to get a better idea of what areas in my game need improvement and make me a better player in the future. I will not be hiring an agent and I enter this process with the full intention of assessing my abilities and returning to Connecticut in 2009-10.”
It will be interesting to see what happens with this. As he said, he expects to be back in an UConn uniform. He’s doing this because of some upcoming rule changes regarding underclassman next season.
I would think right now he may be a late second round pick because no one in the NBA has really had a chance to see what he can do.
On a side note, I really need to start bringing my computer with me when I head down to the shoreline of CT. I missed a lot of news today.
