Former Boston Red Sox great Dominic DiMaggio, brother of Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio, passed away early this morning at the age of 92 in his home in Massachusetts.

A seven All-Star, DiMaggio played his entire career (1940-1953) with the Boston Red Sox minus a 3-year stint with the Coast Guard in World War II (1944-1956). He still holds the record for the longest hitting streak by a Red Sox player at 34 games. He was elected into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1995.

DiMaggio is survived by his wife Emily, 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and the Red Sox organization on the loss of DiMaggio.
