With both teams coming into the first of four games tonight at Fenway Park after being swept by their respective weekend opponents, something will have to give between the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Boston Red Sox.
First pitch for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and will be shown on NESN in the Red Sox television market. The game will be broadcast on FoxSports West in the Angels television market. And if you don’t live in either market, you’re in luck as the game will be broadcast on ESPN as well. If you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2010 Red Sox radio network.
Clay Buchholz has the been the most consistent Red Sox starter this season and looks to continue that in his fifth start of 2010. In his previous four starts, he is 2-2 with a 2.19 ERA. He didn’t face the Angels during the 2009 regular season and is 1-2 with a 6.35 ERA in three career regular season starts against them. He faced them during the 2009 ALDS where he gave up two runs in five innings, leaving with a chance for the win but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead.
Joe Saunders makes his sixth start of 2010 for the Angels and is 1-4 with a 5.74 ERA. He made two starts against the Red Sox in 2009 and was 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA. He’s made eight career starts against the Red Sox and is 4-1 with a 3.24 ERA. In four career starts at Fenway Park, he is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA.
