One day after the Texas Rangers gave his away his jersey, Kason Gabbard was traded back to the Boston Red Sox today for cash considerations.
Gabbard was pitching in Triple-A for Oklahoma and will provide pitching depth for the Pawtucket Red Sox. He missed most of the 2008 season with an elbow injury and has been converted to a reliever.
You may remember that Gabbard was once a member of the Red Sox back in 2006 and 2007. He was traded to the Rangers along with David Murphy and Engel Beltre for Eric Gagne. And we all know how that trade worked out for the Red Sox.
And in the news we learned late last night, the Red Sox have officially optioned Chris Carter to Pawtucket today. They haven’t made a corresponding roster move yet and will make that tomorrow.
