The Boston Red Sox made another round of cuts on Thursday morning as they’ve optioned shortstop Jose Iglesias, catcher Luis Exposito and infielder Yamaico Navarro to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.
Iglesias, who is widely regarded as future shortstop,. finished the 2010 season with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. It does appear he’s on a faster track to the big leagues though by starting the season in Triple-A.
In 15 spring training games with the Red Sox, Iglesias hit .320 with an RBI.
Exposito, who is away from team to celebrate the birth of his child in Miami, saw action in seven games going 1-for-10.
Navarro made his big league debut in 2010 for the Red Sox. In 17 games this spring, he hit .263 with one home run and five RBIs.
