Opening Day 2010 for the Boston Red Sox is upon us finally after just over a month of spring training games.

I’ve had the pleasure of attending Opening Day in 2007 and there’s no experience like it. And to make matters even better, the Red Sox will be opening up with the defending World Series Champions, the New York Yankees.

The Red Sox finished their 2010 spring campaign in Washington, D.C. with a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals.

Tim Wakefield had his final tuneup and allowed no runs over four innings. He gave up three hits and struck out 2.

Daisuke Matsuzaka continues to rehab from his earlier spring training injuries and allowed a run on two hits and three walks with a strikeout in four innings. Joe Nelson struck out one and allowed a hit and a walk.

Kevin Youkilis and J.D. Drew hit home runs with Youk’s being of the two-run variety. Bill Hall added a hit and two RBIs while Jason Varitek added a hit and an RBI.

We’ll be back later on with lineups and other notes before the game tonight.
