Tough weekend for the Boston Red Sox as they fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon and then got beat up on Sunday by the St. Louis Cardinals. Errors lead to Josh Beckett getting roughed up in the loss to the Pirates while Andrew Miller got lit up in yesterday’s loss to the Cardinals.
Daisuke Matsuzaka started for the Red Sox against the Cardinals and was solid. He was charged with two runs in 5 2/3 innings. Both of those runs came in when Miller allowed six runs plus the inherited runners from Matsuzaka to score.
Today, the Red Sox head north to Clearwater, FL to take on the Philadelphia Phillies. The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. and will be nationally-televised on ESPN.
