Old friends will reacquaint themselves tonight when the Boston Red Sox host the San Diego Padres in the first of a three-game set at Fenway Park.
Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and you can watch the game on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Padres television market, you can catch the game on Channel 4 SD. And if you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2011 Red Sox Radio Network.
Andrew Miller will make his Red Sox debut tonight. He was signed during the offseason and spent the first part of his season in Triple-A with Pawtucket. There he made 13 appearances (12 starts) and was 3-3 with a 2.47 ERA. He’s holding hitters to a .181 clip and has 61 strikeouts in 65.2 innings with just 35 walks and 42 hits allowed. He has made two career starts against the Padres and is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA. Both of those came as a member of the Florida Marlins in 2008. Miller has made one start at Fenway Park as a member of the Marlins in 2009. He took the loss in that start after allowing four runs in 5.1 innings.
Wade LeBlanc makes his third start of 2011 for the Padres. In his two previous starts, he is 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA. He’s never faced the Red Sox in his career. He’s made six career interleague starts and is 1-3 with a 7.46 ERA.
