After losing the first two games, the Boston Red Sox look to salvage the finale of their three game set with the Chicago White Sox today at Fenway Park.
This afternoon’s game will start at 1:35 p.m. and will be televised on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the White Sox television market, you can watch the game on CSN Chicago. And if you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2011 Red Sox Radio Network.
After watching his competition crumble last night, Tim Wakefield looks to grab a firm hold on a spot in the Red Sox rotation in his 14th appearance (fifth start) of 2011. In his previous 13 games (four starts), Wake is 2-1 with a 4.14 ERA. He made two appearances against the White Sox in 2010 and had no record with a 3.00 ERA (1 ER/3 IP). Wake has made 32 career appearances (21 starts) against the ChiSox in his career and is 7-12 with a 4.93 ERA. In 19 appearances (14 starts) against the White Sox at the Fens, Wake is 3-5 with a 5.04 ERA.
Gavin Floyd will look to give Ozzie Guillen‘s squad a sweep of the Red Sox in his 12th appearance (11th start) of the season. In his previous 11 appearances (10 starts), Floyd is 5-5 with a 3.69 ERA. He got the win in his only start against the Red Sox in 2010 after allowing one run in six innings of work. In his career against the Red Sox, Floyd is 4-0 with a 3.53 ERA in six appearances (five starts). Three of those starts have come at the Fens where he is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA.
