The Boston Red Sox will try to salvage the finale of a three-game set and a six-game road trip this afternoon with the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH.
Today’s first pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Indians television market, you can catch the game on STO. And if you don’t live in either market, you are in luck as the game will also be broadcast on the MLB Network. If you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2011 Red Sox Radio Network.
Jon Lester looks to put his April woes behind him and get the Red Sox their first victory of the season before heading home to face the New York Yankees. In his first start of 2011, Lester took a no decision after allowing five runs in 5.1 innings. He made two starts against the Indians in 2010 and was 0-1 with a 6.55 ERA (8 ER/11IP). Overall in his career, Lester has made eight starts against the Indians and is 3-1 with a 4.53 ERA. In four career starts at Progressive Field, Lester is 1-0 with a 6.85 ERA.
Fausto Carmona looks to rebound from a disastrous first start and will try to send the Red Sox home at 0-6. In that first start, he allowed 10 runs in just three innings of work. He made two starts against the Red Sox in 2010 and was 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA. In seven career appearances (five starts) against the Red Sox, he is 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA.
