Afternoon Red Sox Delight – 4/23

After getting spanked last night, the Boston Red Sox look to get back on track tonight in the second game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Yankees market, you can catch the game on YES. If you don’t live in either market you’re in luck as the ESPN will have coverage of the game as well (outside of Red Sox and Yankees markets) The game is also available online, on your mobile/device tablet at WatchESPN. And if you can’t catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2014 Red Sox Radio Network.

John Lackey makes his fifth start of the 2014 for the local nine. In his previous four starts, Lackey is 2-2 with a 5.25 ERA. He took the loss back on April 12 against the Yanks when he allowed six runs in 5.2 innings of work. He’s made 28 career starts against them and is 10-11 with a 4.99 ERA. Eight of his starts against the Bronx Bombers have come at the Fens where he is 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA.

Michael Pineda takes the ball for the fourth time in 2014. In his previous three starts, Pineda is 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA (2 ER/18 IP). He picked up the win back on April 10 against the Red Sox when he allowed one run in six innings of work. He’s made two career starts against the home team and is 1-1 with a 6.97 ERA. His lone start at the Fens came in 2011 as a member of the Seattle Mariners when he took the loss after allowing seven earned runs in 4.1 innings.
