On September 1 when UConn football kicks off it’s season it will mark the 16th consecutive season the WTIC/UConn Football Radio Network will broadcast Huskies football to the State of Connecticut. WTIC-AM 1080, the state’s only 50,000-watt radio station is the flagship of the network.

Calling the play-by-play is Joe D’Ambrosio. “Joe D” was named Connecticut Sportscaster of the Year three times during his tenure as Sports Director at WPOP Radio in Hartford. D’Ambrosio left that position in 1992 to join WTIC and become the voice of UConn. In addition to his UConn duties, he works for ESPN Radio hosting pre-game coverage for major events such as the World Series.
