I am beginning to think the folks at the Big East Conference may just want to award UConn’s freshman sensation Maya Moore the Big East Rookie of the Year Award.
Moore was named the Big East Rookie of the Week again for the fourth time in 5 weeks and for the sixth time overall this season. In the two wins against #3 North Carolina and #16 Notre Dame, Moore averaged 17 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
She had 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Huskies win over #3 North Carolina one week ago. In last night’s win over #16 Notre Dame, she scored UConn’s first 15 points, which was her final total for the game. She has been in double-figures in each of her 19 games this season, which is a UConn record.
Tina Charles was named to the Big East Honor Roll for her play in those two wins as well. In the two games, she averaged a double-double with 18.5 points a game and 13.5 rebounds a game.
