I hate to interrupt the party here at SOX & Dawgs with all the Red Sox coverage but I have to pass along some important notes about the UConn Football team, who now by the way is ranked #16 in the AP Poll, #20 in the USA Today Poll, and #13 in the BCS Standings.
Scott Lutrus won his second consecutive Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors for his outstanding play at linebacker during UConn’s 22-15 win over then #11/12 South Florida. The redshirt freshman had 8 tackles in the game and returned an interception 23 yards to help put the Huskies up 16-0. The interception was his fourth of the season, with two of those going for touchdowns.
He had won the award the previous week for his play in the Louisville game.
Andre Dixon and Danny Lansanah were named to the Big East honor roll for the past week. Dixon had 167 yards rushing while Lansanah had 16 tackles, which was the game-high.
The Big East Conference also announced that UConn’s game @ Cincinnati on November 10th will start at 3:30 PM and will be broadcast on ESPNU. It will mark the third time the Huskies will appear on ESPNU and it will mark the third time a good portion of the state of Connecticut will not get to watch the game since Comcast doesn’t offer it.
UConn will be on ESPU this Saturday, November 3rd, when they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 PM and drinking is scheduled to start at 3:00.
