The UConn women’s game on December 29th vs Jen Rizzotti and the Hartford Hawks will be moved from 1 PM to 7 PM to allow fans to be able to watch the UConn football team play Wake Forest in the Meineke Car Care Bowl at 1 PM on ESPN.
“As a consideration to our loyal fans, we moved the start time of the women’s basketball game on Dec. 29 to 7:00 p.m. so we could provide UConn fans with the opportunity to enjoy two great Husky games on the same day,†Director of Athletics Jeff Hathaway said. “We are very appreciative to all who cooperated to make this move possible, especially our friends at the University of Hartford.â€
Speaking of the Meineke Car Care Bowl, UConn has sold 10,500 of it’s 12,500 ticket allotment and hopes to sell them all out before the game. If you are interested in buying tickets, head over to UConnBowl.com.
The Meineke Car Care Bowl has sold over 40,000 tickets to the game according to a press release.
Less than 100 tickets remain in the lower level and club seats are sold out for the 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl, it was announced today by bowl officials. To date, over 40,000 tickets have been sold to the sixth annual game.
The 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl will take place on Saturday, December 29, at 1 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN. The game is played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons, tied for second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division, will face the Connecticut Huskies, the co-champions of the Big East Conference.
“Tickets sales for the Meineke Car Care Bowl have again been solid,†said executive director Will Webb. “The fact that we are over two weeks away and have basically sold out the entire lower bowl is very encouraging. Wake Forest and Connecticut have both been doing a great job with ticket sales and promoting the game. We hope to continue this momentum and make a strong push to the finish.â€
As I said above, if you are a UConn fan and thinking of attending the game, please buy tickets through the UConnBowl.com website. We want them to sell out their allotment of tickets which will help them in bowl games for the future.
The UConn men’s and women’s teams return to the court on Sunday and Monday respectively as the men’s team will take on Quinnipiac (HCC) at 2:00 PM on Sunday and the women will take on South Carolina (GP) at 7:30 PM on Monday night.
I would definitely check UConnHuskies.com on Sunday about the status of the game due to the impending Nor’easter scheduled to arrive late Saturday.
